Mission: Improving the living conditions of low income families through housing and community development.
Programs: Self-help housing - assisted 60 families in completing the construction of their new homes. 60 other homes were in the process of construction as of june 30, 2015. Homebuyer assistance program - 58 families received secondary mortgage financing to help them purchase homes. Rehabilitation - 30 families received financing and assistance in the rehabilitation or reconstruction of their homes. An additional 12 families were assisted with emergency home repairs or domestic well financing. Multifamily housing - 1,311 low income housing families reside in 27 affordable rental housing projects developed and sponsored by self-help enterprises. Three projects are in the development pipeline. Each project provides a range of resident services such as child care, computer labs, and esl classes. Community development - assistance to small communities with sewer and water problems is ongoing with work being done in more than 60 small rural communities. Additional work is being done in this area as the region faces drought issues and many dry wells. Homeownership education and counseling - 502 low income households received individual and/or classroom homeownership training. California drought - due to the california extended drought, the organization has worked with additional families to provide 10,541 water conservation kits, 213 temporary water solutions including the delivery of bottle water and adjunct water tanks, and assisted in the repair or replacement of 10 water wells.
