Mission: To provide an educational resource for environmental graphic design constituencies, which include designers (graphic design, architects, landscape architects, interior designers, industrial design, and exhibit design) and decision makers (government officials and agencies, healthcare administrators, museum exhibit directors, real estate developers and building managers). The organization does this through educational programs for university students and faculty, and agencies and officials in transportation, city planning, and healthcare environments. For professional development, segd also develops research and provides "white papers" summarizing findings of research as well as a website, newsletter, and magazine. The organization convenes workshops and conferences to share information and present the latest information in the field.
Programs: Conference & expo achievements in 2013 the new york event brought together those who represent all facets of the field of environmental graphics:designers, clients, decision makers, and manufacturers and fabricators. Programs available to the participants included sessions on cutting-edge technologies, developments in the field, and an overview of what is happening throughout the world. Attendees also used the city of new york to tour sign and information programs in various facilities. The nexpo, which displayed 20+ product manufacturers and fabricators, provided an opportunity for representatives from industry and the design fields to learn about each other, and their needs, and to understand available products. This is the only such event that specifically addresses this audience. About 500 participants attended the event.
