Mission: We provide quality vegetable seed, expertise, and training materials to humanitarian organizations working around the world to alleviate malnutrition and poverty. Vegetables are rich in calories, vitamins, and minerals and can be sold for income to meet other basic needs.
Programs: Spi provided 271,000 packets of vegetable seed to 29 countries during the year. These shipments, combined with appropriate local training, tools, and support, resulted in more than 12,000 household gardens planted. For families in more than 29 countries impacted by disaster, armed conflict, chronic stress, and poverty, these gardens provide life-saving nutrition and income.
