Causes: Arts & Culture, Fund Raising & Fund Distribution
Mission: Support artists, arts programs and arts education through fundraising and special events.
Programs: The scottsdale league for the arts is dedicated to supporting the arts and art education programs in arizona. The league raises funds for the arts by hosting social and culinary arts events throughout the year, all culminating in their largest community event, the annual scottsdale culinary festival. This fundraiser started in 1978 and invites 30,000 hungry guests from around the state to sip, savor, and support. 100% of net proceeds raised from these events are donated to a wide range of non-profit arts organizations through the league's annual grants program. The league awards grants on a competitive basis to nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies that directly provide services in the arts or arts education programs within maricopa county. Grants are awarded to projects that expand the league's support of the visual, culinary, and performing arts, as well as arts education. Each year, the scottsdale league for the arts accepts applications from a variety of organizations, with a focus on funding projects that are directly related to the arts and/or arts education. The league also requests that all grant seekers submit their financial data to the cultural data project, which offers a unique system that enables arts and cultural organizations to enter financial, programmatic and operational data into a standardized online form. Grants are funded in mid-september, at a crucial time as arts programs gear up for new seasons. The scottsdale league for the arts was proud to award grant support to a total of 21 arts non-profit organizations in fiscal year 2017. See schedule i for a listing of these organizations. In addition, scottsdale league for the arts awarded $5,000 in culinary scholarships.
