I know the love and dedication the founder, Joyce White, has poured into this project. Using her own experience, Joyce manifested a healing mechanism and shared it with others through her workshops.
I am a volunteer art instructor with Hope For Women through Arizona Art Alliance. It is one of my most rewarding experiences because I can see the participants forgetting their problems and becoming engrossed in a new skill that bolsters their self-esteem. And they can take home a good memory in the form of their completed work. I hope this program expands so that the great service it provides can be shared by more of the Phoenix community.
I have been volunteer teaching with this organization for a year now and I find it very rewarding. Just knowing that we can help people gain confidence and self worth through art is a wonderful thing. It's as much a gift to us as it is to the students, when you see their face light up after creating their masterpiece. It also gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment to see that they can do something that they didn't think they could do before.
