I enjoy being part of the advocacy efforts of the chapter and working toward educating the Michigan legislatures. In 2020 we met with all of the Congressional offices and shared information about scleroderma.

I enjoyed taking the SPIN SSLED classes and the fact that the Michigan Chapter ED is the lead facilitator for them. Learned so much from the training.

Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter's, SFMC three-fold mission is to provide education, support and research. Quality web-based educational experiences are available every month, with experienced scleroderma physicians lecturing on topics that pertain to the health and mental health of the scleroderma community. SFMC provides a variety of resources for the over 10,000 persons living in the state of Michigan with scleroderma. SFMC also works closely with several of the medical schools to educate medical students firsthand about the disease. Every year, on the first Sunday in June, SFMC hosts their Stampede Scleroderma 5K Run and Walk. This event brings together over 1,100 guests for a morning of education, awareness, activities, vendors, running, walking, food, entertainment and family-friendly FUN! SFMC also supports peer-to-peer funded research projects so that one day soon a cure will be found. Until that day is here, SFMC works closely with persons living with the disease and their families to assure their needs are met.
