Mission: Since 1920, in the aftermath of World War I, Service Civil International (SCI) founding members in Europe developed the concept of community service "workcamps" as an alternative to military service. SCI attempts to promote greater understanding, peace and conflict resolution throughout the world through practical measures such as short term and long term volunteer exchanges among all nations and peoples.
