Just another awful shelter that cares more about pitbulls than human children, cats or other dog breeds. But they’ll tell you it’s not a pitbull! Also loves adopting out dogs that they fully agree are “genetic dumpster fires” and require someone with “deep pockets”.
I have adopted two dogs from Saving Grace. Both dogs are mixed mutts, and have brought so much happiness to my life.
I have followed Saving Grace journey for the last 8+ years and see the struggle day in and day out of the thankless job they do saving animals lives. I can only imagine the toll that takes on all of the volunteers emotionally and mentally. Kudos to you all!
Mislabels breeds as something completely different and then is shocked when a family returns the dog. Very childish and ignorant and honestly should be shut down. They also think it’s funny to joke about violence towards children
The rescue mislabels animals as the wrong breed. They are happy to shame anyone who disagrees with them or returns a dog because they don't want anything to do with a breed. They have disparaged multiple people online because they don't agree with these dangerous practices. Do not recommend them!
This rescue lies about dog breeds and hide the fact that they are pit bulls. Then they publicly shame people for wanting to return a dog that they found out is a pit bull because of safety for their family. Then they make nasty comments to people who question this. They literally said “ people like you are the reason some species eat their young” among other nasty comments.
Shameful! And dangerous.
Saving Grace has been a godsend. Rescuing so so many animals here in Maryland and also outward states.
Making pets lives better through adoption and fostering.
I submitted my application when I retired from Federal service to adopt a small dog. Within one week I got word SGAR they had 2 small Chihuahua mix puppies that there mother rejected. SGAR bottled fed these puppies until they were old enough to adopt out. I adopted one of them and I so happy. Snoopy is a happy and loveable boy. SGAR works with the adoptee to match up a dog or cat you want or like.
Absolutely best rescue this side of the Mississippi!! Amber and her team work theur butts off! Rescue is sooooo hard. Please support them !!
SGAR has gifted me the best dogs in the world, one cat and an amazing dog for my grandmother. They not only make sure that the pets are going to good homes but the right homes! It's the only rescue I recommend and will EVER adopt from!
I was ready to adopt one cat, so I met several options being fostered by SGAR volunteers. I ended up adopting two cats instead after meeting three options and receiving support and guidance from the foster parents. Both cats had arrived to SGAR with litters of kittens and the one cat also had arrived with a bad eye injury. SGAR took care of both mamas and their litters, including the medical expenses and rehabilitation time for the eye injury, and were absolutely wonderful to work with. I love that they don't just adopt animals out to anyone but they do a thorough reference check and ensure that the adopter is prepared to handle the unique needs of each animal. I also loved that the foster parents were happy to keep in touch with me and guide me through any questions I ran into as a first time cat mom!!!!
I had just lost my dog Duke unexpectedly and was devastated. I ran across Gingers picture and it was like she was reaching out to me. We we're a perfect match for each other. Saving Grace saved both of us.
I adopted this cutie, Lacey, almost two years ago from Saving Grace. I appreciate the time they spend to make sure that the adopter and the dog are a good fit. We are so happy Lacey picked us and Saving Grace said yes! They will be my first choice for my next adoption. They really do care!
We adopted Koda from Saving Grace in October of 2022. They were so helpful in the entire adoption process and Koda’s foster mother was so amazing with him and us! We got an amazing, well cared for puppy who is now the most amazing one year old! We are so happy we chose to adopt from Saving Grace!
Adopted a cat from them 5 yrs ago and it was an amazing experience. After 2 weeks the cat still didn’t like us and we were going to return her but they told us what to do. 5 yrs later she’s the best cat ever and loves everyone even the other 4 cats
Also fostered 2 senior dogs for them about 4 yrs ago (at separate times). These 9 and 10 yr old pups needed to be rescued and they rescued them. After this I fostered some cats for a little bit. They are a great rescue to adopt from and to foster for
Saving Grace recently came to my yoga studio for a Puppy Yoga fundraiser event, and brought a handful of adorable baby pit bulls. I’m not sure how much yoga was done, because we were all too busy fawning over those sweet pups. :) I’m still smiling just thinking about that day.
Teresa and (I feel bad I forget her name!) were super nice, provided everyone with information about each individual puppy (as well as saving Grace) , and helped make the event a success!
I can not say enough good things about this organization!
This organization not only propagates and encourages specific breed hate, but comes across as childish, petty and unprofessional. Why do they even take these specific dogs in if that is their stance on them? I will absolutely never support an organization that attacks others for pointing out that perhaps they should reword a statement that is simply hateful. Their leadership needs to take a crash course in how to graciously work work the public rather than come across as self-righteous, uneducated haters.
I wish I had a specific staff member or volunteer, including their job title to refer to. However, an unfortunate encounter arose tonight on this Rescue’s Facebook page. Insulting, and derogatory statements were used to respond to inquisitive responses on an insulting and almost attacked like post this individual shared while representing the rescue. They never identified themselves, they made uneducated judge mental comments, not only towards anyone purchasing a dog, but insinuating that purchasing a pure bred dog would be better than what their opinion was of a poorly, chosen pet. They intentionally insulted those who disagreed then blocked them, so they could not respond or defend their stance , whom ever acted in such a disgusting manner should no longer be partnered with this rescue
We adopted a puppy from Saving Grace in August 2022. The application process was straight forward, simple, and easy to understand. We received a response to our application quickly and were able to bring our dog to meet the puppy before the adoption to ensure they would get along. Lisa was the volunteer who helped us along the way and she was wonderful. She truly cares for all the animals she fosters and wants the best for each of them.
We recently adopted Soldier through SGAR. The process was so smooth and Lisa responded very quickly to our communications. She spent so much time with us at a meet and greet to make sure that he was comfortable with our family and our other dog, and that we were comfortable with him. We had travel plans 1 month after we brought Soldier home. We did not want to traumatize him by sending him to our regular boarder so soon. Lisa graciously offered to keep him for the weekend so that he could be somewhere he was familiar with. I highly recommend SGAR! So thorough and professional!
I adopted the perfect dog from Saving Grace! The process was easy and I couldn’t be happier with my dog! She’s a wonderful fit for my family.
Wonderful experience adopting from SGAR! Met pup at an event on Sunday,
and filled out application as soon as I arrived home. Kristen was my volunteer and a wonderful person to work with. Pup came to visit on Friday and came to live with me on Monday. Kristen has remained in contact with us and pup loves her to this day! Could not have asked for a more awesome adoption!
We adopted our sweet boy, Paulie, from Saving Grace almost a year ago. It has been life-changing. Saving Grace was professional every step of the way. They gave us so much information about adopting and helping our pup adjust to his new living situation. The process was fast and painless. They are open and honest about their animals. I would recommend this rescue to anyone!
I am a foster for Saving Grace. My experience has been totally positive. Everyone has been welcoming, and they clearly care about the animals they rescue. Amber is knowledgeable and responsive, and her wit keeps everyone grounded. I can't think of a more deserving rescue.
We love working with SGAR. Amber is excellent and genuinely cares for her animals, she is one of the hardest working rescue peeps we know!
Your Friends at,
Nothing But Love Canine Foundation!
I cannot say enough positive things about SGAR. As someone who was with another organization for a few years, switching to Saving Grace has been a culture shock in the best way. SGAR is the epitome of professionalism, and their commitment to the animals is second to none. I am honored to be a part of such an amazing cause.
This rescue is amazing! I can't believe the love and effort this group puts in for helpless animals. Even with the inevitable disappoint and heartache that goes along with rescuing, this group never gives up!
I am blessed to be a foster Mom for this amazing organization. It has been such a wonderful experience. There is nothing more rewarding than giving these sweet souls their happily ever afters.❤️

I am a fairly new foster mom with saving Grace Animal Rescue. I have been blessed with many wonderful dogs that I have fallen in love with and given my heart to. Loving these sweet souls is such an honor. It is painful to say goodbye to them, but it makes me feel so good knowing I had a small part in finding these deserving creatures a happy life in a forever home. The other wonderful foster parents in our organization are always there to help and support me. If I need help with anything or I am sad after saying goodbye to a beloved foster dog, they are always there for me. Saving Grace is an organization made up of loving people who all want to make a difference in animals’ lives. We want all of these dear souls to feel loved, often for the first time in their lives. I feel blessed to be part of such a caring organization.
As a fellow rescuer, I love Amber and her team. They take hard animals that have extensive and expensive medical needs, are supportive of other shelters, organizations, and animal welfare advocates, and do a great job in educating the public about good animal care.
Amber is extremely knowledgeable about dogs, from basic medical, to behavior, to genetics/breeding and is happy to share her knowledge with anyone willing to learn.
501c3 organizations are supposed to be a community resource but seldom have I seen a rescue that truly is that. Saving Grace is, though.
I have been working as a volunteer/foster for SGAR for almost 2 years. They are absolutely the best rescue I have worked with! SGAR genuinely cares about each and every animal that comes in to the organization. Blessed to be apart of the group ❤️
Saving Grace Animal Rescue of MD puts animals and their needs above all else! The director advocates for the animals and uses her reach to educate others.
I discovered Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland during DogFest several (almost seven!) years ago while I was attending my GSHP Oscar. There was this sweet little black lab mix with a few scars and just a stump of a tail - and Oscar & I both fell. Hard. Applied that very night and welcome my Libby home a couple weeks later. Since then, I became a foster for SGAR, and did that for about 5 years. Libby & my other dog, Max, were excellent foster siblings but it was time for them to retire. During my association with SGAR, I met the BEST people - dedicated, selfless, and wonderful. The direct, Amber, is amazing and has developed a community of volunteers and partners that do truly phenomenal work. It has been my very great blessing to have been a part of this team and I sing their praises whenever someone will listen.

Saving Grace Animal Rescue came through for me on short notice and found a foster home for a pregnant cat that was living outside. They did a great job. This animal rescue makes a huge difference in the lives of animals by providing medical care, spay/neuter, and finding good homes for animals in need.
Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland is amazing. The animals they rescue are their priority. They are totally honest about each animal in their care. They make sure each rescue finds the right home for them and not about just finding a home. Every dog has different needs and they go above and beyond to make sure they are healthy and find the right home for them. I am a foster for SGAR and very proud to be associated with this organization.
Unfortunately my 4 legged best friend went to doggy heaven December 2020. Missy was with the family for 14 years. I did not want to own another dog right now so I decided to foster rescue puppies in honor of my Missy. I searched for a non profit rescue in Maryland. I came across Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland. The name was a catch for me.
Not only have I fostered 5 puppies total but I adopted the 5th one and named him Mango.
Last but not least I encouraged one of my church members to adopt a puppy from SGAR.
We can't thank Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland enough for our new beloved family member Daisy (Theresa). The organization was wonderful to adopt from, and Daisy's foster momma Donna was the absolute best. We are so grateful for this organization and their amazing volunteers who helped us find the perfect addition to our family.
After we lost our beloved 13-year-old rescue Charlie, we wanted to adopt another dog. We saw “Nathan” on Petfinder; he was being fostered by Saving Grace. We applied and were so happy to be approved. We went to meet him and his foster Mom Donna (and all his foster-home buddies) and fell in love. He’s now Jackson (Jack) and we’re so happy he’s part of our family! Donna has been so wonderful - she helped us get medicine for him and has been there for advice. Everyone at SGAR has been fantastic to deal with. We’re so grateful for the work they do to save beautiful dogs from high-kill shelters and other bad situations. We’d highly recommend this wonderful rescue agency to anyone.
We are a fantastic group of rescue/foster volunteers! I love how well we all communicate and help eachother to meet the needs of each animal and make adoption events run smoothly.
This charity saves so many four legged friends from awful conditions and puts them into the hands of loving and thoroughly vetted fosters and adopters.
I've fostered and helped place 5 dogs with their furever homes!❤️ This rescue really cares about their rescues and the foster volunteers. Every question or concern about my foster pups was answered or needs met. The adoption processors go above and beyond to make sure animals and adopters are a good match. The rescue goes the extra mile to provide a clear idea for adopters about what they can expect with their new pup. Working with this group has been a pleasure and so heart-warming to meet people that care so much about animals!❤️
This rescue is amazing. It’s clear how much they care about the well-being of every single animal they rescue. They do an exceptional job of vetting potential adopters to make sure the pets are safe. The animals lives are their top priority.
They have been awesome to work with from start to finish. The animals welfare are their number one priory. I have Adopted and fostered with with Saving Grace the whole organization is like a big family supporting each other making sure each and every animal they rescue finds a good forever home.
Saving Grace is AMAZING the dedication of the volunteers is unprecedented - I cannot say enough great things about Saving Grace
I've been volunteering with Saving Grace for years and am proud owner of a foster fail dog from their rescue. The amount of time, energy and dedication they pour into the animals in their care is second to none. They have such a dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly to make sure that every animal finds the best forever home.
I adopted a dog and cat from this rescue and they have the best foster crew, admin group, and take great care of the animals! Thank you
Volunteering and fostering with Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland has given me a unique perspective of the inside workings. And I can tell you that SGAR is a small but mighty group that is doing everything in its power to help give animals a better life. The hours are long, there’s never enough money, and it never gets easier to see the suffering, but this is a dedicated, ethical, and passionate non-profit that far exceeds its resources to save countless animals.
They go above and beyond to make sure the animals they rescue are well cared for until they find their forever home. They also work to ensure adopters are matched with the right animal for their family.
I’ve been fostering for SGAR for a few years and they are by far the best rescue organization I’ve worked with. The leaders spend endless hours to save every animal they can help. They’ve even taken in pigs, bunnies, ducks etc if they need to ! I recommend adopting from them to everyone I know!
I have been fostering with Saving Grace for 2-1/2 years. I have foster failed 2 out of my 80+ dogs. This organization is amazing, they really care about the animals they save. They make sure that all animals are on a 2 week health hold when coming from transport so that they don't send out sick animals. They go above and beyond to pull and help the very sick and injured. They currently have a dog who has an auto-immune disease that caused her to be paralyzed in her hind legs. Her vet bills have totaled over $10k and this is a lifelong issue. They have another puppy who has a liver shunt as well as 7 dogs rescued from another rescue after Animal Control seized 90+ dogs/puppies from them that are still fighting Distemper. Two of those dogs have beat it but still have ringworm. They never stop fighting for these animals. My two foster fails are amazing dogs. I can't imagine my life without them.

I have been fostering with Saving Grace since March of 2019. I have fostered almost 60 dogs in that time. I also foster failed one... :) We adopted our girl Nyx (our 9th foster with SGAR) in May of last year. I can honestly say that this organization has the best team out there. The group of VOLUNTEERS (that is right, no one gets paid) do everything in their power to save the babies that come to us. We don't always get cute easily "flipable" dogs/puppies/cats/kittens. Often our director has this crazy soft spot for the ones that have medical issues. We have several HW+ dogs, including one of my current fosters. We also have dogs who are recovering from extreme flea infestation (inflamed bleeding skin) and parasites. Animals who need surgery, a kitten with hydrocephalus, another kitten with deformed front paws... the list could go on and on. What I am saying is that this organization doesn't shy away from the hard cases. We want to save them all. I can't imagine working with any other rescue other than SGAR. They are how all rescues should work. I have included a few pictures of my girl Nyx, as well as one of one of our most recent foster sibling sets.
We love our SGAR pup! We foster with SGAR and have adopted our sweet Addie girl from them! We are so thankful they save so many pups in need of homes!
Saving grace is a terrific organization. They go above and beyond to help any and all animals that they can. The dedication and commitment to the animals does not go unnoticed!!!
I have volunteered for Saving Grace for over 2 1/2 years now. I am so impressed by the dedication of the leader ship and volunteers. They are ethical and hard-working and truly do their best to match the right pet with the right owner. It is definitely an excellent organization to adopt from and work for.
I am a foster, adopter and supporter of Saving Grace. They are a great organization. Kind, generous and truly care about the animals they help.
This is the best organization I’ve ever worked with. The team is amazing and jump to action as soon as needed. Any time a foster needs help, others immediately step in. This is a great group that looks out for each animals best interest, no matter what that takes. It’s about saving lives not making money.
I rescued a puppy from them 2 years ago, started fostering shortly afterwards. The amount of love and support this organization has for animals in need is second to none. As a foster, I have seen the impact a loving caring home has on puppies and dogs and how crucial it is for them to thrive!
I have never met a group of people in any other organization that works as tirelessly and selflessly for their cause and for free (actually they donate their money to fundraising) than the volunteers in this rescue. They have rules that they stick too, that makes sure the puppies, dogs, kitties, and sometimes ducks and rabbits are all well taken care of and healthy through their foster network. They take great care to match families with the right pet for them and families for the pet.
Responds quickly to questions. Discloses all information and detailed descriptions about animals in their care. Definitely care about where they place their animals for adoption.
I am not sure I'll be able to find the words to express how wonderful this rescue is. The representatives truly care and love these animals. They put so much love and care into these animals prior to adoption. We adopted our pup over a year ago and are so in love with him. We have recommended this rescue to all our friends and have had the pleasure of seeing three others adopt.
Our lives are complete because of Saving Grace!!
SGAR works so so hard! I have been fostering with them for just a few weeks but I’ve already seen how much everyone works to make sure as many dogs are rescued as possible.
we rescued this sweet girl when she was 4 months old. Saving Grace found her on a Yard Sale site in Virginia. She had been kept in a crate for 12 hrs a day, was COVERED in fleas and flea bites, as well as having a UTI. Her name is now Sugar due to being the sweetest dog ever! After medical care, love and patience she is not as fearful of people as she once was. All she needed was someone to love her and give her the life she deserved.
I adopted both my dogs from Saving Grace! They are all about Saving animals and getting them great forever homes. The volunteers are the best around and always there ready to help. The lady that runs the rescue is top notch and devotes every minute of her life to saving animals! This group is completely dedicated to a great cause! So happy I was able to get the best dogs from them!! Highly recommend Saving Grace Animal Rescue of MD !!!
Saving Grace Animal Rescue is nothing short of amazing!! They truly care about the animals they rescue and they want to make sure the each animal gets placed in the right home for what they need depending on their breed and personality. I have recommended so many of my friends and family members who are looking for animals to look through their website because they are an incredible Rescue to work with!
We adopted both of our pups through SGAR. I absolutely without thought or question recommend SGAR to anyone I know. The adoption process is the best yet. The foster parents are INCREDIBLE, and the dogs are amazing. We love our two and cannot thank SGAR enough for what they do!!!
The completely volunteer run organization is a gift to any and all animals that are lucky enough to be saved by them. They do a thorough job of vetting adopters and ensuring each animal gets the best care possible. Truly fantastic work.
I love fostering for Saving Grace and spreading the word about them to everyone i meet! They do such amazing things and go above and beyond to help save the lives of as many animals as they possibly can!
I had lost dog after 13 years and was in a bad place in life and was really depressed saving grace helped find my emotional support dog and things are much better.
Saving Grace always goes above and beyond to help all animals and indeed the fosters and adopters. No distance too far, no vet bill too large, no case too challenging ❤️ My fosters are pictured
If you are looking to adopt or foster I cannot recommend SGAR enough. Our journey with SGAR started May of 2019 when my husband went to a foster's home to measure a flooring job. That's when I got a cute little pic of Penny (the tan pup in the photo) who was looking for her furever home. We put in the application and the process was seamless.
Fast forward to this year and we decided to give back. Penny has brought us so much joy that we wanted to start fostering. February of this year we began fostering. IT HAS BEEN SO REWARDING!!!! We have fostered 15 dogs/pups and each of them has been unique and wonderful. We even have added another pup to our pack permanently ( Gavin- The black pup in the photo) If you are looking to adopt or foster ~ this is your rescue
I’m a foster for this rescue and also have adopted a puppy through them. The process is easy and accessible. The communication is clear. The animals are well cared for.
I have adopted two dogs from this organization and volunteer with them. Excellent organization that strives to place their animals in a home that is a good fit for that particular animal. They don't shy away from medical cases either - all cats and dogs have a chance with Saving Grace!
Saving Grace Animal Rescue is an amazing asset to the rescue and animal welfare community. They go above and beyond to save so many helpless and homeless animals in need. We are so grateful and lucky to have them helping the animals at our shelter!
SGAR has been an excellent partner and operates ethically and provides wonderful vetting and foster care for their animals. Always willing to help when they are able, this rescue is well respected in the community.
We met our dog at an adoption event. Our dog’s foster was very nice and answered all our questions regarding the dog we were thinking of adopting. We had never had a dog before so we were looking for a dog not a puppy. The foster explained the process of submitting an application, the adoption fee and when we could except to take our dog to her forever home! The people who work and volunteer for this organization are awesome!
Saving Grace Animal Rescue of MD is such an asset to my shelter! I direct a small animal control facility in Eastern WV and they are always willing to help us by pulling any animal they can help! Cats, dogs, kittens, puppies, and even a duck!
The volunteers at SGAR are the best of the best and their dedication to the animals is obvious in everything they do!
The team at Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland have a passion for all animals. They rescue the ones that need help and educate people to avoid future unwanted or neglected animals. I adopted my second dog from them and love her so much! I also started as a volunteer with them a few years ago because I saw their commitment and passion for what they do and I couldn’t resist being part of it. I highly recommend them!
Best charity I have ever worked with is Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland! They care about every animal in their care and go to extraordinary lengths to provide exceptional care and love to each one, no matter how dire or difficult the situation. Not only this, the organizers are appreciative of every volunteer and provide them support in any way possible. They are amazing and do great work in saving Many animal breeds.
