Mission: The Jon Sims Center for the Arts supports artistic expressions of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender experience. The Center ensures access to the creative process, providing resources that support and promote new and existing arts programs. We believe that the process and product of creative activity have equal value, that all talent is worthy of development, and that artistic expression is essential to our community's health.
Programs: The Jon Sims Center for the arts has four major programs including a low cost rental program providing rehearsal space for hundreds of performers. Are major programs are AIRspace (Artist-in-Residence) which provides up to 8 hours a week free rehearsal space to 8 emerging artist or artist groups each year. JSDance which gives emerging or well known choreargraphers an opportunity to show there works. JSCinema which highlights queer video and film from an international perspective. SfinX is a spokenword project focusing on those in our communities most likely to be marginalized.
