My children did their first show with SCCT 10 years ago. I was immediately impressed with the group--they were so organized, and wonderful with the kids. My kids were hooked and ended up doing 20+ shows with the theater, learning so many important life skills along the way. I eventually became a board member, and even though my kids are now in college, I am still passionate about SCCT and love the work they do for the kids and the community.
We moved to San Carlos almost 6 years ago, when my boys were 7 and 9. My oldest has always been a performer, so he was interested in SCCT right away. I told him if he figured out and memorized his audition monologue, we would commit to the show. The rest has been history. After 7 or 8 shows, he gained poise, a sense of working with a team and individual responsibility. He also met his best friends. We loved it so much that I joined the board and continue to volunteer, even though my son has outgrown the shows.
San Carlos Childrens Theater is, by far, our favorite children's organization on the peninsula!
We're a long time SCCT family. My daughter started when she was 9 and loved all 8 productions with SCCT; she joined the Youth Advisory Board when she entered high school so she can help others discover the fun and magic of theater. SCCT is a wonderfully inclusive organization that welcomes everyone and it has become part of our family.
Such a great organization! Inclusive, promotes team building, confidence and so many other skills with children. And as a parent, the theater creates a great sense of community.
San Carlos Childrens Theater is AMAZING! The pandemic has resulted in so many things getting taken away from our kids - negative impacts to school, social opportunities, extra-curricular activities...the list goes on and on. In the face of these challenges, SCCT still provided opportunities for my son to participate in the thing he loves the most - being a part of a cast and putting on a production. Throughout the summer, he worked together with his friends and SCCT's amazing staff to produce an outstanding online musical. SCCT helped him stay connected with his friends, continue to develop his skills, and learn how to solve problems on the fly (his computer over-heated during a live online scene and he solved the issue by putting it in the freezer, then jumping back into the scene!). I'm so grateful to SCCT, and wholeheartedly recommend it to any parent looking for a positive and engaging community that will help their children grow.
Theater is a wonderful way to boost confidence among young children, and San Carlos Childrens' Theater does a great job of inspiring young actors and actresses and teaching them the trade. Not only that, they include all family members so it's a real bonding experience. I have personally seen my daughter's confidence soar as a result of her participation in drama. Thank you to San Carlos Children's Theater.
