My dtr volunteered for Casa de Sion for a month in October..she had a wonderful time and met many wonderful people. She cut up a lot of food! Cleaned a medical clinic and helped where she was able. These people are 100% trustworthy. Please feel free to donate to them !

I have not personally visited Guatemala But I have donated my time and effort to get the word out. I have heard stories and seen pictures of all the good that is done there. If I could and my Health good I would go in a heartbeat to give my time on site. I believe that this is what God intended when he said to "Feed my sheep" We at serving God by serving his children.

Our 501(c)3, Pan En La Boca, has worked with Safe Homes for Children for several years. We have completed building projects for them and donated the funds to build the small health clinic on their property in Los Robles, Guatemala. We have also donated funds for other projects they have. We've worked closely with Vicki Dalia and know and have worked with some of her children. The family is dedicated to doing all they can do to help orphans and many other poverty-stricken people in Guatemala.

I've been in contact with the Safe Homes for Children for a little while now and will be volunteering with them this summer to help with gardening efforts. They are very enthusiastic people who have been doing great work for people truly in need of their help. I am excited to work with their organization and work more closely to these inspiring people.

I have watched Safe Homes for Children grow each year to help so many children. Not only do they feed, cloth and provide medical services, but they educate the children and teach them how to succeed in life, so the cycle of poverty they come from can end with them.

This is a small organization run by a family. vicki Dalia has done so much for each individual child and family that she assists through her organization. She and her husband work directly with the local people and have employed as many as they could in the facility so that they could get a better income for their families.
Most importantly, the donations they receives from others are complitely used to support the feeding program for mom and babies and other projects. This is again a small and very efficient group.
I am looking forward to go directly to Gatemala and work in Casa de Sion as a volunteer this Spring.

In early 2010 I went to their orphanage site in Guatemala with a group of about 15 people. My job, during the week we were there, was to supervise and help build an 8' X 32' metal chicken coop on their property. We managed to complete it. The second day after we left the property a typhoon blew in and literally destroyed all the native homes within miles of the site. The only buildings left standing were the main building and the chicken coop so for about three weeks the chicken coop was home to three complete families seeking shelter while they tried to rebuild their corn stalk walled shelters with a piece of tin for the roof.

These people do an amazing job in helping the really poor mothers and babies in highland Guatemala. They are modern day saints.

Casa de Sion saves lives. It is an organization that ensures that mothers and infants have enough food to remain healthy. It is important for the mothers to remain healthy so that they can meet the needs of their infants. The infants need proper nutrition so that they can avoid some of the devastating and life-long effects of malnutrition during infancy. This non-profit is the only one I am aware of where 100% of the money raised goes to the feeding program. There are no administrative costs that go toward salaries of administrators. That is a wise investment of my charity donations!

Our family donates to the mamas and babies program. We have young children and sharing with them about where some of our money goes and what it does helps my 4 year old learn about the world around her and the responsibility we all have to help each other. she loves to look at the photo we have of one of the families we are helping and explain to us why we need to help them have food.

I spent four days in Guatemala in February 2011 and was very impressed with the work Casa de Sion is doing to help educate mothers on the care of their babies in an effort to inspire the mothers to keep their children rather than abandon them. Casa de Sion provides 200 meals five days a week to children so they will have at least one hot nourishing meal on school days. The program is stable, loving, and educational for long time success.

In college, I lived next door the the daughter of the owners of this orphanage. She showed me pictures of all of her adopted siblings from Guatemala, as well as the other orphans still at the orphanage. This family purs 100% of their donations into this charity that they started, as well as countless hours of their own time and their own finances. I have followed the blog for years and tried to visit a couple times. Although I have not been able to personally visit, Safe Homes for Children Casa de Sion has remained in my heart and prayers.

I live in Guatemala City and work at an international school. During the winter holidays myself and another person organized a toy drive for less fortunate children. When we arrived in the two villages that Save Homes for Children work with I could not believe how little they had. The people were so happy for everything that we did for them. Save Homes for Children is an amazing organization that helps people in rural Guatemala that no one else is willing to help. These children now have access to an education and have access to food at least once again. They have set up for people around the world to sponsor children to help give them milk and medicine that is needed. I was so touched by everything that they do that I started sponsoring a child.

I work at a private international school in Guatemala City and we had a toy drive to collect toys to give to the children that Safe Homes for Children serves in both Los Robles and Nueva Victoria, Guatemala for Christmas. It was a pleasure working with Vicki and her family, and the others who volunteer for Safe Homes for Children. The participation from the children and parents at our school was outstanding, and we were able to donate enough toys for every child to receive two Christmas gifts. Vicki made us feel so welcome and appreciated when we came to deliver the gifts, and we got to see all the amazing work her organization is doing for these small communities in need of support. I will continue working with Vicki and have plans to collect more needed items to bring to both Los Robles and Nueva Victoria. The tutorial and feeding programs in these communities are so important and I look forward to offering continued support to Safe Homes for Children.

I am a Registered Dietitian and have helped this organization with some menu planning advice. This group meets the needs of the little served native population in Guatamala without using any of the donated funds for the organizers. It all goes to help Guatamalans in need. I am impressed with the can-do attitude of this group that does not let setbacks and challenges get in the way of accomplishing their goals to feed and educate these children and families. They have overcome floods, blocked roads and corrupt government interference. Best of all, they teach families how to take care of themselves, not just give a handout.

We were particularly moved by the dedication of the volunteer, Joel Greer, who was present. We have since talked to Vicki Dahlia and felt her generous spirit towards the project and the people of Guatemala. It is fantastic to see the impact of this project on the local Guatemalans. We should do all we can to assist with good works like this project.

Safe Homes For Children...... is a WONDERFUL organization. The owners/founders have helped and continue to help so many mothers, and children. I have been going for the past two years. I have witnessed the change in the children. The children who partake of the "school, feeding program" are so much more healthy and doing so well in school. They are also learning life skills, manners, and hygiene. They are being taught to break the cycle of poverty and the value of education. The mothers are also learning many skills as well. They are being educated. Wondeful organization...and very true..every penny goes to the programs.

This is a fantastic charity. It feeds malnourished kids and their moms in Guatemala. Every penny donated goes directly to the programs since all overhead is covered by the lovely family who runs this organization, as well as most of the aid funds, in fact. They're great people and they help some of the poorest of the poor. They also run education programs, teaching both mothers and children. They give excellent feedback to their donors, as well, with frequent blog updates and pictures of the individual families we donors are helping. I love Safe Homes for Children!

I have had the privilege of serving as a volunteer for this organization. I am extremely impressed with the good work they are doing in Guatemala to help feed and educate critical populations. Everyday over a hundred children and at risk mothers receive a hot meal and other support as well as enhanced educational opportunities. They have hired 2 full time teachers for different communities to develop a love of learning among school age children and they are providing much needed infant formula and incaperina for at risk mothers and infants. Enough can't be said about the good they are doing.

I work at a school in Guatemala City. Our school was doing a toy drive over the holidays and found Vicki´s program on the internet. It sounded like the perfect fit for our toys. We gathered a bunch of teachers to bring the toys to Safe Homes, once we got there we realized how much of an impact Vicki and her program had on this community! There were many families that were so greatful for everything the program has provided. Many of them would not be able to eat if it wasn´t for Vicki´s program.

I first heard of Vicki's work a number of years ago. I have supported her efforts ever since. I know that every dollar I give goes toward the people in Guatemala.... there's no overhead that's paid for out of my donation. Vicki posts regular updates including photos of what they're doing down there and the challenges they face in helping the Mayan people. They have a number of volunteer groups that go down there to help and post blogs of their work.... doctors, church groups, nurses. I plan to continue my support of this organization and urge others to join the effort.

I have spent many years working at Safe Homes for Children and i have had nothing but great experiences. You can always tell that the owners really care about the children. They give so much to helping them have a safe place to be and food on the table. I always enjoy volunteering because there are fun activities that we get to help with and everything is well organized. One time they had a carnival for the kids and they got their faces painted. Another they had a late Christmas party and each child received a gift. The joy from the children at what they receive it enough to make me keep going back again and again.
