Causes: Domestic Violence, Family Violence Shelters, Homeless & Housing, Hot Lines & Crisis Intervention, Human Service Organizations, Human Services, Mental Health, Sexual Assault Services, Suicide Prevention
Mission: To provide services to reach out to those affected by sexual assault and domestic abuse; provide support to those in crisis; and to educate individuals, families and the community, by providing the tools needed to empower them to live free of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
Programs: Crisis intervention services: in addition to the 24-hour crisis line, and 14 bed temporary emergency shelter with an average stay of 41 days, we offer crisis services through our helpline, walk-in and through immediate response in conjunction with our partners. We provide therapy legal advocacy, court accompaniment, information and referral, financial assistance, support groups and victim accompaniment with law enforcement, courts, hospital and child advocacy center. All services are provided free of charge to anyone effected by violence. During the 2017 tax year, safe harbor provided services in the following numbers: helpline, we responded to more than 5,600 calls (80% of these were crisis, 14% were information and referral). Shelter provided a total of 3,855 bed nights to 106 adults and 73 children. In addition, we assisted 531 adults and 279 youth through domestic violence and sexual assault services and provided support and advocacy through victim accompaniment in 230 cases (197 forensic exams/law enforcement interviews, 5 assists to the district attorney's office and 28 child advocacy center cases).
prevention education services: these services provide community members with information and education to foster values, skills and behaviors focusing on respect, equality and consent that will assist helping prevent them from becoming a victim or perpetrator of domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, or bullying. During the 2017 tax year, safe harbor prevention activities provided information, education and advocacy to over 7355 community members. We had over 176 presentations to 3,140 adults and 4215 youths in both community and school locations. We gave over 200 presentations in our community.
outreach / non resident services: we offer services that are not crisis oriented for victims who are ready and working on stabilizing their lives from violence. These services include support groups, therapy and legal advocacy. We served 122 people with therapy services, 248 people with legal / criminal justice support, 160 people through support groups and completed 5600 safety plans.
