Causes: Arts & Culture, Fund Raising & Fund Distribution
Mission: To provide music education, performance opportunities and scholarship oppotunities for individuals of diverse backgrounds. Saecula choir foundation transforms lives through choral music.
Programs: Ensembles during 2017, the foundation sponsored several ensembles, including saecula women's choir (chamber group of experienced adult singers), saecula singers (intergenerational), vocaljoy (show choir for young singers), and the newly-established saecula community gospel choir (intergenerational and non-auditioned). Throughout the year, these ensembles served more than 200 singers, reached approximately 3,500 audience members of diverse ages and backgrounds, and participated in 11 performances at venues throught connecticut, including yale university, st. John's episcopal church in bridgeport, the women composers festival of hartford, christ & holy trinity episcopal church in westport, church of the good shepherd in orange, st. Paul's episcopal church in wallingford, st. Ann's episcopal church in old lyme, and first congregational church in cheshire. The ensembles also collaborated with many other choirs, including yale glee club, yale schola cantorum, the duke's men of yale, redhot and blue, something extra, living water, united girls' choir, elm city girls' choir, st. John's episcopal church choir, connecticut children's chorus, children's chorus of springfield (ma), khorikos, village harmony, and gmchorale's alchemy.
cooperative living program this program provides safe, healthy, affordable communal housing for a small group of young adults (ages 18 and older) who are passionate about the foundation's mission of "transforming lives through choral music- and who are actively involved with scf's programs and/or other local choral organizations.
saecula choral institute saecula choral institute is an intergenerational training program for conductors and music educators, which offers workshops, masterclasses, and professional development seminars covering a wide range of topics related to leadership, conducting, and choral pedagogy. Participants are invited to develop their skills in a collaborative, nurturing, and non-hierarchical environment under the guidance of experienced clinicians and facilitators.
