Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals, Veterinary Services
Mission: The spca exists to eliminate animal suffering and to engage the entire community in the welfare and well-being of animals. This is accomplished through the adoption of healthy animals, spaying & neutering animals, and providing veterinary medical services.
Programs: Spca florida's community programs help thousands of pets and the people who love them. The organization cares for around 4,000 homeless animals each year and provides affordable veterinary care to an additional 40,000 pets annually through its mcclurg animal medical center. Last year the organization's ani-meals program, a collaboration with meals on wheels, polk county elderly services, and viste, distributed more than 14,053 pounds of pet food to elderly and homebound families. The community cat program addressed pet overpopulation by spaying or neutering over 2,600 stray cats, preventing thousands of future homeless kittens from being born.
