Causes: Health, Patient & Family Support
Mission: Ronald McDonald House at Stanford creates a home-away-from-home and supportive community for families of children with life-threatening illnesses receiving specialized treatment at local hospitals.
Programs: Ronald McDonald House at Stanford's primary program is to provide families with a home during their child's treatment for a life-threatening illness. By providing this haven, we enable the family to stay together near their child and focus on the health of their child. Additionally, the House offers a variety of programs to make our families stays a little easier.
CLIK (Computer Learning for Ill Kids) Program: CLIK provides the children and families with computer access to stay in touch with family members and friends at home, for educational & recreational purposes as well as do research on treatments.
Pantry Project: The Pantry project ensures that there is always food available for our families, many of whom cannot afford the basic necessities.
Supper Program: In addition to the Pantry Program, the Supper Program provides a much-appreciated meal to parents and kids after a long day at the hospital. Prepared by community groups, or local restaurants and corporations, suppers are available 3 to 4 nights a week.
Holiday events: Holidays are a terrible time to be away from home, so for every holiday of the year, not just Christmas, the House holds holiday festivities. These events include 4th of July barbecue, Easter baskets and Thanksgiving Dinner with the help of community groups and businesses.
