Mission: Our mission is to transform the at risk youth of San Antonio into successful college and career-ready students, so that they can achieve the future they deserve as self-supporting adults, role models as parents, and as contributing members of the community.
Results: Since we opened in 2008, we have served over 3,500 students. Over 90% of our students either enroll in college or obtain employment within 6 months of graduation. And, over 200 GED graduates are continuing in college and over 100 have completed a college degree, 5 times the US average for GED students.
Target demographics: youth who have dropped out of high school & at-risk high school students
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2014, we served 819 students. 409 students received free GED tutoring & college readiness services; 410 high school students participated in our free SAT/ACT workshops and seminars.
Geographic areas served: San Antonio, Texas; Bexar County and surrounding areas
Programs: 1. Passport to College program: individualized, self-paced GED preparation and connection to college for dropouts. 2. Compass Program: guidance, support and mentoring for 1st-gen college students through degree programs. 3. FastPass Program: free SAT/ACT workshops, seminars and tutoring for at-risk high school students.
