Mission: RISEbusiness, founded in 1996, grew out of the need for high-quality information based on rigorous qualitative and quantitative research on the small and emerging business sector. By providing corporations, policymakers, business or trade associations serving this sector with substantive and insightful research on issues impacting the formation and growth of small and emerging businesses, we inform and enhance decisionmaking pertaining to this important sector of the economy.
Programs: RISEbusiness' main areas of research interest are: small and emerging business' contributions to the economy; the impact of government regulation and legislation; the impact of enhanced access to capital; the impact of the changing workforce and workplace; and, the impact of changing technology on small and emerging business.
We sponsor three distinct types of research--market, policy, and field research. The research could involve corporate marketing strategies, such as how executives in small and emerging firms make decisions, select vendors, and purchase goods and services; how new laws and regulations enhance or thwart the formation and growth of small and emerging businesses; and, how common, daily private-sector challenges (organizational and financial management, human capital) are addressed and how changes (new laws and regulations) are integrated by this sector.
