RBF provides resources and volunteers for Financial Literacy skills for the Dixon Pre-Release program (10 hours per quarter). To date 2,400 men have participated in the program at DCI. In Spring 2009, RBF began providing financial literacy classes to the DCI security and support staff. To date 35 DCI personnel have completed the program with additional classes planned. Additionally, RBF has embarked on a more intensive financial management program for the offender population that will include solutions to poverty through the nationally recognized Bridges Out of Poverty and Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World curriculums. Twelve offenders at DCI have graduated from the financial management class with an additional 21 offenders participating presently. A key element of the program is to provide information and resources for Home Loans and First Time Homebuyer programs. The Solutions to Poverty program will be launched in August, 2010. This is a first-of-its kind program in a correctional facility and has been accredited by DOC to garner good time credits for the men who graduate.
