Mission: ReFED is a national non-profit that catalyzes the food system toward evidence-based action to stop wasting food- for the climate, environment, people, and the economy. We work to increase the adoption of food waste solutions for our vision of a sustainable, resilient and inclusive food system that makes the best use of the food we grow. Focused on deep data analytics, ReFED fills the critical information gap that hindered progress on this issue and develops first-of-their kind resources and programming to enable data-driven decision making for our partners across the food system.
Results: ReFED has deepened its impact across the food system during a critical period of momentum and growth. As the food waste movement accelerates, demand for ReFED’s expertise, data, and strategic guidance has grown significantly. In response, ReFED has expanded and strengthened the infrastructure necessary to meet this demand with clarity and focus. This includes launching new research initiatives to identify high-impact strategies, enhancing key data tools such as the Insights Engine, and integrating methane emissions modeling to help stakeholders better understand the climate implications of food waste. ReFED has also developed and modeled emerging solutions, improved data pipelines for greater accuracy and accessibility, and delivered customized roadmaps to businesses and institutions to guide their food waste reduction efforts. Through these efforts, ReFED continues to serve as a national leader, advancing practical, data-driven solutions that are helping to build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient food system.
