Causes: Environment, Recycling
Mission: To promote resource awareness and recycling enterprises in hawaii. Includes educating the community about sound resource management and recycling opportunities for a more environmentally sustainable future.
Programs: Conducted various recycling activities: management of used motor oil collection program, promotion of the christmas tree recycling program, operating and monitoring reuse and recycling centers (keaau, pahoa, waimea, keauhou, kealakehe & hawi), an annual school art recycling competition, delivered an outreach recycling and resource management education program for the county of hawaii at schools, businesses, and to the general public.
publishes and frequently updates the "hawaii island recycling guide" for island wide hard copy distribution and online distribution at www. Recyclehawaii. Org. Presented home composting educational workshops with island wide distribution of home composting units to promote keeping residential organics out of the landfills, and conducts an ongoing latex paint diversion from landfills program as an adjunct to the six recycling and reuse centers program.
