Mission: For over 95 years, readykids has been providing critical support to children and families in charlottesville and the five surrounding counties. With the mission of opening doors to bright futures for kids, readykids prepares kids to be ready to learn by providing quality early learning experiences and ready for relationships by supporting positive, nurturing and healthy family relationships. In fy17, the nine readykids programs provided support, teaching, counseling and coaching to improve the lives of 7,936 children, families and child care providers in our community and 94% of participants met targeted outcomes.
Programs: Learning ready kids have quality early learning experiences that prepare them for school and life. Kids that are learning ready: are developmentally ready to enter school, experience quality early care and education and maintain early gains to succeed academically. In fy17, readykids learning ready programs (child care quality, readysteps, family coordination, play partners and star kids) impacted 6,191 kids, families and child care providers and 92% had quality early learning experiences that prepared them for school and life.
relationship ready kids experience positive, nurturing and healthy family relationships. Kids that are relationship ready: relate well to others and are socially/emotionally healthy, experience positive parent/child/family interactions, are free from abuse and neglect and receive support with family crises and related mental health problems. In fy17, readykids relationship ready programs (healthy families, real dads, teen counseling and inside out counseling) impacted 1,745 kids, families and child care providers and 96% experienced nurturing, healthy and developmentally appropriate family relationships.
city of promise - readykids is the fiscal sponsor for the city of promise, a department of education promise neighborhood initiative designed to create a continuum of solutions with the potential to significantly improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children and youth in the 10th and page, westhaven, and star hill neighborhoods.
