Mission: The Reach Out & Learn mission is to help those in need by training mental health, medical, dental, and public health professionals in foreign lands.
Results: Helped thousands in need by training hundreds of professionals in foreign lands.
Programs: Part iii, line 28. Peru maternal-fetal health training - during a week in march and april 2017, twenty three (23) reach out and learn (rol) volunteers, including three (3) mds (obgyns), one (1) certified registered nurse anesthetist (crna), four (4) rns (nicu rnc, labor and delivery nurses), and one (1) pharmacist, from the u. S. Provided free training for more than a hundred maternal-fetal health professionals in abancay, cusco, juliaca, and puno, peru, on issues that affect the mortality of women during pregnancy and childbirth, and to newborn babies during and after childbirth. Rol also provided more than 200 newborn kits and more than 200 delivery kits, free of charge, for the peruvian maternal-fetal health professionals, to use in their work to help those in need. Training workshops included topics on suturing perineal laceration, treating postpartum hemorrhage, caring for hypertension, handling difficult deliveries, performing neonatal resuscitation donated time was in excess of 200 hours in training sessions and more than 500 hours working in orphanages, in villages, and receiving cultural and historical training. Rol volunteers also distributed and collected evaluation forms that will be used to improve our training.
part iii, line 29. China mental health training - during a week in jinan, china in october 2017, twelve (12) rol volunteers, including one (1) md, two (2) lcsws, three (3) registered autism behavior techs, one (1) education counselor, and one (1) esl teacher provided free training for more than 200 chinese psychology students/professionals in topics, such as, sexual and other addictions, autism,and relationship skills. Data collected through evaluation forms, will be used to identify ways we can improve our work to help those with mental health challenges. Volunteer time provided was in excess of 300 hours.
