Programs: On dec 10, 2107, we organized and hosted an event for 400 people at the chinese culture center auditorium to commemorate the 1937 "rape of nanjing". At the event, we presented a film on emperpor hirohito's involvement in the war crimes committed in china and the current day denials by the japanese government. We had speeches, music, flower presentation and an organized walk to the "comfort women" memorial site. The event was co-sponsored with three other peace organizations and was a huge success in educating the public about the events of the rape of nanjing.
we agreed to be a fiscal sponsor for comfort women justice coaltion, another 501(c)(3) organization. We collected their donations, paid their expenses and held their unspent donations in trust for them, until they have established their own set of accounts. In 2017, all amounts held in trust were transfered to the sponsored organization. As such, we supported the building of a sf memorial to the "comfort women" on fund raising, coordination, and technical support provided for the comfort women justice coalition.
our members actively participated in the organization of the unveling event for the "comfort women" memorial at st. Mary's square on sept 22. 2017 by providing volunteers, coordination with vendors, and press releases.
