Mission: Raiseachild is the nationwide leader in the recruitment and support of lgbt and all prospective parents interested in building families through fostering and adopting to meet the needs of the 437,000 children in the foster care system.
Programs: Raiseachild creates and produces multi-media campaigns to outreach to and recruit prospective foster and adoptive parents for the 437,000 children in the u. S. Foster care system. These campaigns target various communities and populations including the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (lgbt) community, the latino community, single adults, and all people equally interested in building loving families for foster children. Added to this campaign effort is a weekly series in huffington post queer voices entitled "let love define family" in which raiseachild features success stories of lgbt headed foster and adoptive families from across the united states. Through its outreach program and colaborative partnerships with other organizations, raiseachild expanded its national database from 4,400 prospective foster and adoption parents in 2016 to 5,800 in 2017.
through its parent advocate program, raiseachild has helped over 460 prospective parents in los angeles county complete the foster/adoption approval process, which typically takes nine to twelve months to complete, and assisted in the placement of over 250 foster children into homes of raiseachild parents in los angeles county alone.
raiseachild conducts educational events for prospective foster and adoptive parents. These events target the lgbt community, the latino community, single adults, and all people equally, inspiring all to begin the process to build families through fostering and adoption. With a 2017 schedule of twelve educational events, raiseachild hosted and engaged with over seven hundred prospective foster and adoptive parents in los angeles, san diego, riverside, and orange counties.
