Mission: The R. P. Blandford & Son Pipe Band was formed in 1986 in Redlands, California. The band is best known for its musical arrangements that are unlike those of any other pipe band. Pipe Major Kevin Blandford is responsible for these arrangements and for the band's successes in competition over the past several years playing more traditional music. In 1999, the band competed in various Scottish Festivals in North America. The band won first place in six straight contests, plus a first place at the Pleasanton Highland Games. Pleasanton is the largest competition on the West Coast and R. P. Blandford & Son Pipe Band beat bands from as far away as Canada, Illinois and Kansas. We have started the year 2000 with two first places at the Costa Mesa Highland Games. Costa Mesa is the largest Highland Games in Southern California. We welcome Pipers & Drummers who just want to perform without being in a competitive unit. R. P. Blandford & Son Pipe Band is available for hire ranging from full band to solo piper. We are a Not-for-Profit Corporation whose main purpose is to educate the community's knowledge of Scottish music.
