Mission: Mission StatementThe Foundation shall:1. Educate the public about: - The Quecreek mine rescue effort which took place July 24 - 28 in Somerset, Pennsylvania, during which nine coal miners trapped underground by flooding were rescued due to the extraordinary efforts of many rescuers.- The many facets of the rescue scene and those who were instrumental in carrying out the rescue effort.- The coal mining industry generally in Southwestern Pennsylvania.2. Commemorate the historic events which occurred during the rescue through, among other things, the establishment, operation and maintenance of a memorial park at the site of the rescue.
