Mission: Our mission is to shape a world free of sexual exploitation and brokenness by providing christian solutions in a sexualized culture. We equip parents and college students to lead a lifestyle of prayer, understanding, resolve, and engagement that pursues jesus, cultivates healing and freedom, and lives out the classic christian sexual ethic, including fidelity and exclusivity within the "one flesh" marital union of one man and one woman, and celibacy in singleness, both of which are gifts from god.
Programs: Organization's primary exempt purpose our vision is a world free of sexual exploitation and brokenness, which we work toward every day by providing christian solutions in this sexualized culture. That work is rooted in a steadfast faith in jesus, who came to purify a people hungry for justice and righteousness (titus 2:14), and it is sustained by our belief that everyone who thus hopes in him purifies him or herself, just as he is pure (1 john 3:3). We educate and equip parents and college students to lead a lifestyle of prayer, understanding, resolve, and engagement that is rooted in devotion to jesus, that cultivates healing and freedom, and that undermines injustice and exploitation by living out the classic christian sexual ethic. Through teaching, discipleship, consulting, thought leadership, and ministry of presence, we are equipping a new generation of parents and the next generation of leaders through world-class content, events, and catalytic collaborations to undermine injustice and cultivate reconciliation. Here is just a glimpse of that reach and growth. In the twelve months of this fiscal year, 4100 people attended 40 purehope events at churches, schools, and other venues across the country and globally. Moreover, 1,515 purehope community members received our informative quarterly newsletter, the journal, and 8,665 received our regular email updates in their inboxes. Our website and digital resources drew tens of thousands of readers from 139 countries. We focused on four strategic projects that we believe will significantly move the needle in shaping a world free. The first is our video-enhanced resource titled quest: parenting in a sexualized culture. This unique, world-class content responds to the four most pressing questions parents are asking in our culture: 1) what does the bible say i should believe about sex? 2) how do i talk to my kids about it? 3) how do i manage my family's technology use? And 4) how can i lead my kids when i'm not perfect myself? And leaders around the nation are employing it. As pastor tim cox of church at charlotte has said: "this is the most practical curriculum and a 'must' for every 21st century parent" through our website and rightnow media, an online bible study library with over 15,000 church subscribers, quest was accessed almost 4,500 times, representing a reach far beyond that through group settings around the country. This year, we cultivated international distribution of this resource through african and latin american ministry partnerships. We will endeavor to increase the english version's use in churches and schools, as well as translate the content into spanish and french to reach a global audience and pursue our vision of a world free. The second strategic project is our justice internship and related college outreach. We hosted twelve talented and devoted leaders in two cohorts this fiscal year, and have now sent back to campus or into the workplace almost four dozen men and women who have been shaped and equipped through this spiritually formative and professional-development oriented program. Lives are changed through it. As one of our interns this year said: "i experienced freedom and truth in such a different context during this internship, in a way that was absolutely life changing" we also brought this inspiring message directly to campuses this year, an environment in which young people desperately need truth, hope, understanding, and healing. As one university president wrote to us after a purehope chapel service, "sexual purity is such an important topic in the lives of our students that is not addressed often enough. The challenge for students to pray, understand, resolve, and engage sexual debasement that floods our culture today is a valuable one. " third, we released volume two of our lifestyle magazine, a world free. The articles, poetry, images, layout and design of this print publication communicate in a fresh way, to people around the world, the beauty of truth, the hope of healing, the richness of justice, and depth of love. As one supporter in california told us, "what i love about this purehope publication is that it takes really hard topics and gives them a soft landing. " the quality and uniqueness of our magazine jumps off the table at you, and purehope friends from around the country have told us stories of impact from people saying "tell me about this" while picking it up off living room coffee tables, office reading shelves, or dorm room desks. Our fourth strategic project is our collaboration on the heart of man film. The film had two nationwide theatrical showings in september and october 2017, through which almost 60,000 we're impacted in sold-out theaters coast to coast. Our team participated in the collaborative development of the participant guide to accompany the film, and invested heavily in marketing and promotion of the film, including its release on itunes and dvd. This leadership will continue through partnership development, international distribution, and live event coordination into 2018. The tagline for the film, "our brokenness is a bridge, not a barrier," captures concisely an important theme of purehope's vision, and this film is already bringing hope and healing to tens of thousands while simultaneously undermining that force that drives demand for sexual exploitation.
