Programs: The providence singers performed four live concerts and performed three concerts in artistic partnership with the rhode island philharmonic orchestra. The providence singers offered a 10-week choral educational and performance program for high school aged male and female singers. The festival hosted a nationally renowned clinician to direct the young singers. As part of its mission to support the creation of new music, the providence singers presented the world premieres of two new compositions; the first created in honor of and dedicated to the providence singers and the second commissioned by the providence singers through its wachner fund. The premiere concerts hosted the composers of each piece as conductor and pianist, respectively. The providence singers also made a studio recording of a professionally produced and edited cd, the fourth in its american masterpieces series. A new strategic planning phase supports the providence singers' ongoing mandate to spark engagement in choral singing and foster the advancement of the choral art through excellence in performance and outreach as a resource in rhode island and the souther new england region.
