Mission: Project create provides accessible arts education to promote positive development in children, youth and families experiencing
Programs: In 2016, project create: + provided 100 children and youth with regular access to the arts through weekly arts education courses and arts enrichment at our anacostia studio. + provided 250 children, youth and their family members with regular access to the arts through weekly arts education courses and arts enrichment in partnership with community centers and out-of-school-time organizations, including shelters, public housing, recreation centers and schools. + served 200 participants of all ages with multi-disciplinary arts workshops at bi-monthly family arts days at our studio. + engaged 30+ local professional artists, art therapists, and arts educators to teach and mentor our students. + facilitated student arts enrichment field trips and workshops in collaboration with local arts institutions + produced student exhibitions and performances to highlight students' artistic accomplishments throughout the year.
Project Create makes a difference in the lives of DC kids. I've seen it in their small faces when they're performing on stage or showing off their paintings that have been framed and hung in a real exhibition. Our staff and teachers see it in their day to day behavior and attitudes.
Project Create is committed to enriching and transforming the lives of at-risk children in Washington, DC by providing them with professionally-led arts experiences. We believe that arts experiences are essential to a child's development. They empower children to reach their potential by fostering critical thinking skills, creative expression, self-esteem, and social skills
