Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services
Mission: At Progressive Employment Concepts our mission is to provide opportunities for people with developmental disabilities which promote dignity, respect, and inclusion so that all our lives and communities are enriched. We believe that all people have a right and responsibility to make choices affecting their lives. With choice come risks We support people's right to risk as there is potential for learning in each choice we make.
Target demographics: People with disabilities lead lives of value and dignity
Direct beneficiaries per year: 131 adults
Geographic areas served: Sacramento, Placer, Humboldt, Yolo, and Del Norte Counties
Programs: support individuals in finding and maintaining employment, starting and maintaining their own small businesses, volunteering, attending community college and in general participating in meaningful ways in their communities. Our support includes all facets of helping people live regular lives of value and dignity: support to learn and use a variety of means of communication, advocacy, health, assisting people in finding employment, assisting with interviewing, providing on-going support at jobs, providing ability awareness training and providing consultation for adapting the work environment. For individuals operating their own businesses we assist with all aspects of business development while connecting people to the resources they need. Our organization is well regarded for our ability to support people with complex communication, behavioral and medical needs to be contributing members of their community. We believe ALL people have a right and a responsibility to be contributing.
