Stay away from this "charity." I did some research on it and found that it is extremely mismanaged. The telemarketing company takes a huge cut of any money donated. The little bit that actually makes it to the organization is often spent by their board on extravagant meals and alcohol. There are much better police organizations to give your money to. Do some research and you will find their financial reports.
This "charity" is a joke. I looked up their 2012 990 and they show benefits paid of $56,000 and professional fundraising fees of $333,000. Don't waste your money unless you like to subsidize paid telephone solicitors.
Review from Guidestar
I told the association they could send me their donation form and I would check them out before sending anything. Glad I took the time to do so. Guidestar shows they took in $560,272 in 2010 (last yr reported) and their expenses were $482,995, leaving only $77,277.00 for benefits. Somebody is getting taken care of, but not the way we might exect. I sent their donation form back and told them I'd be donating my money elsewhere.
