Mission: The mission of the pioneer memorial log house museum is to collect and preserve documents and relics relating to the early history of texas, texans, and houston, and to encourage the study of texas history through exhibits, literature and educational programs.
Programs: The pioneer memorial log house was constructed in 1936 by the san jacinto chapter, daughters of the republic of texas (the chapter) in honor of the texas centennial celebrations in houston. In 1986 it received a texas state historical commission marker. The log house serves as the meeting place and office for approximately 290 chapter members. Located within the log house is the museum collection of artifacts, relics and documents relating to the early history of the republic of texas. Chapter members serving as docents conduct tours of the museum monthly and upon request and give presentations on various topics of texas history to interested groups, all at no charge.
