Mission: Phame creates opportunities for adults with disabilities to experience the joy of artistic expression through lifelong arts education and performance, offering a safe environment to inspire new connections with students, teachers, and the arts community at large.
Programs: Phame offered over 80 lifelong arts learning classes to over 120 individuals experiencing intellectual or developmental disabilities from the portland metropolitan region, including classes in yoga, visual art, choir, ipad music lab, acting, and many more. We additionally awarded over $32,000 in tuition assistance to support these individuals in taking the classes we offer, and employed 15 teaching artists in providing this programming.
phame offered over a dozen public performances in venues across portland, including two of our popular free "get phameous! " community arts open house, performing at the oregon shakespeare festival green show, at the tedx portland conference, with pink martini, producing a winter concert at first presbyterian church and an inclusive music video "stand with phame" with members of the community, two pop up art shows at luck labrador brewery and prophoto supply, and many other public performances, most of which were free and open to the public.
phame produced a staged setting of "the wizard of oz" with music arrangements by matthew gailey in two performances at st. Mary's academy in july of 2016. This production featured an inclusive cast of over 20 actors, musicians and crew with and without disabilities, and represented an important artistic inflection for phame as an organization. Other public performances, most of which were free and open to the public.
