The goal of the food stamp participation project is to connect eligible low income households to the supplemental nutrition assistance program (snap) statewide. Phac screened 1,107 households under this program and submitted 953 applications. Approximately 1,717 individuals received a total of 189,804 in snap benefits per month. Funded by the central pa food bank, phac also raises awareness of snap amongst area food pantries, commodity supplemental food program (cfsp)consumers, and fresh express sites. Phac visited 75 food pantries at which staff promoted the program and referred consumers to phac's snap line. 477 callers referenced one of these events as their primary referral source for contacting phac's snap line.
