Causes: Disaster Aid, Disaster Preparedness & Relief Services

Mission: Peace winds america (pwa) works with relevant governments, ngos, international organizations and the private sector to strengthen the policies, programs and capacities that pertain to disaster preparedness, risk reduction and relief and recovery. Pwa commits to assist the victims of natural and environmental disasters through rapid, coordinated relief and recovery efforts. Pwa preparedness and relief and recovery activities highlight proven strategies and capable partners.

Programs: The sister cities disaster pareparedness initiative strengthened preparedness and response at the city level. Peace winds america, vietnam and u. S. Sister cities worked together to lay the groundwork for a three year initiative that will focus on public-private partnership in disaster preparedness and business resilience, sharing best practices and innovative technology in disaster management.

the civil-military disaster preparedness initiative consisted of policy forums, preparedness workshop and numerous meetings with relevant officials. Working with officials from the u. S, philippine and japanese military, foreign and assistance agencies, international/local ngos, the un and the private sector, this initiative focused on how to improve civil-military disaster preparedness and response, both within and among organizations. The initiative incorporated many senior officials and disaster managers and raised issues pertaining to policies, procedures and cooperation.

peace winds america's tsunami recovery worked to revitalize the fishing industry in miyagi and iwate prefectures. On-the-ground teams worked with fishing cooperatives and local leaders to restore livelihoods and rebuild infrastructure.

peace winds america working with peace winds japan provided relief (food and fuel) to the victims of two earthquakes (april and may 2015). After the immediate relief phase, peace winds america and peace winds japan began construction of shelters providing materials (corrugated galvanized sheets), plaster, bricks to those survivors needing to build and/or repair their homes.
