Our relationship with PAWS of Dale Hollow goes back to 2006 when we adopted our wonderful Border Collie mix, Tipper. I found PAWS by chance through a Google search and am so happy I did!

When my sweet dog passed many years later, my husband and I turned to PAWS once again. We knew we wanted to adopt another great dog in need of a good home. Cathy Crocket, the president of PAWS, helped us choose a delightful puppy.

Aside from being compassionate and kind, PAWS of Dale Hollow takes good care of the pups in their care and in fosters. Their assessment of doggy personalities is spot on, which is important when adopting, particularly to homes with children or other pets. They are honest, ethical, and just amazing at what they do; place wonderful dogs in wonderful homes.

I used the word, 'relationship', when writing this review. When adopting a dog from PAWS of Dale Hollow, you have the opportunity to build a relationship with Cathy, the president, fosters, and other adopters. This is what makes a successful rescue organization.

I highly recommend them and I do recommend them to family, friends, and co-workers!

I have adopted two pups from Paws of Dale Hollow and I can’t say enough about the experience. They live up to their stellar reputation every day, treating animals and their adopters and foster families with kindness and compassion. From the initial inquiry to adoption to transport and support after adoption, this is a top notch rescue in every way. This is evidenced by their very large community of repeat adopters. My two much-loved pups owe their lives to PAWS and all their amazing volunteers. Thank you!

A friend on Facebook sent me a shot of a puppy who needed an emergency foster,
This baby was adopted but the family’s little boy was severely allergic to her fur.I took her figuring she would be readopted, ya right, 14 week old baby. That was 8 years ago and she is sooooo smart, protects the house, loves everyone and everything (especially kids). Paws of Dale Hollow were so great to deal with and helped me with whatever I needed.Cathy,Mo,Esther and the gang are wonderful and loving. They do so much good for the adopters and the animals. Thanks guys for all you do. You are like family. Oh and did I mention Cathy talked me into fostering a feral Manchester terrier who was terrified of everything people. Hes 4 now and can’t be away from momma! He is the fastest and funniest dog ever! Thanks Paws of Dale Hollow for my babies!!! Foster fail x 2

Cathy and everyone at PoDH are an incredible and passionate team of professionals. My boyfriend and I are in NYC and adopted a puppy from them last January, and it was the best decision of our lives! Cathy was so communicative during the adoption process, sent us lots of photos and updates in the weeks leading up to us being able to pick her up, and connected us with the adopters of her siblings (whom we’ve been able to keep in touch with!). Our puppy was mostly potty trained and fully crate trained already at 3 months, and was an absolute snuggle bug. Cathy was so helpful, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what she does. Most importantly, it was evident that her main priority was to send the dogs to the right home that would be able to properly care for them. We would recommend Paws of Dale Hollow to anyone, and we would absolutely adopt from them again. We adore our Josie girl!!

From left to right: the ride back home from picking her up from the puppy bus, Josie and her sibling having a play date in NYC, and now!

For several years, I lived in a rural area where people dumped dogs. Since I love dogs, I got in touch with Paws to help me with these strays. They always agreed to pay the bills and find homes if I fostered. All of these dogs were good sweet dogs that deserved good homes. Paw did find them good homes and paid the bills. They have my respect.

Thank you Paws of Dale Hollow! After unexpectedly losing the dog of all dogs, our family was not sure how we would find another. We saw a post with an adorable litter and I reached out to Cathy Crockett and within weeks, we were preparing to meet our newest family member. I had so many questions and Cathy was always available and always so helpful. Our puppy arrived healthy, alert, and full of love and fun. Anyone looking to save a dog should be contacting Cathy at Paws of Dale Hollow. The best!

We first met the team at Paws of Dale Hollow almost 11years ago after our beloved almost 13yo dog passed. We completed an application for a lab/shepherd mix and Cathy was our first contact. The process was very thorough and you could tell she has the dogs best interests at heart. We ended up being accepted to welcome Isabella into our home. In the last 11 years we became friends with the Paws team fostering countless dogs, helping with transport etc. In all that time only 1 failed foster our beautiful Catahoula Sophie. We even went to visit TN and the paws team they are incredible and so dedicated to what they do.

We adopted our Tito from Paws 5 years ago. He came to us a beautiful, healthy boy. My female golden was extremely jealous and we had some problems integrating him into our family. Cathy Crockett was so wonderful and supportive. I cannot say enough about this rescue. They are super and go above and beyond. The care they give the pups is amazing! They love what they do and we love them for it! Thank you for all you do.

Paws of Dale Hollow is an amazing example of animal care. Between the rescue to the adoption, countless hours of work have to be completed by Cathy and her crew to make sure the animals are healthy, the adopters will value their new fur family member, and the adoptee is able to travel safely. How do I know this? I have adopted new family members three times over the last 13 years. All have been remarkably well cared for and loved until they could come to their forever home.

Paws of Dale Hollow is a wonderful rescue organization. Our family recently rescued a german shepherd puppy and could not of been happier with how the whole process was handled. They take on a tough job with rescuing so many unwanted dogs and make it seem easy from our viewing side but know there is a ton of work that goes into each adoption/rescue. Thank you for all that you do and would highly recommend them if and when considering adopting a pet.

I just adopted my second dog from Cathy after losing our first pup in January. We had our Ella for exactly 10 years until it was time to let her pass over to rainbow bridge. She was so sweet, so loving and quite a blow to our family. Three months past and we knew we needed another pup for our other remaining dog. I immediately reached out to Paws of a Dale Hollow and Cathy and her team came through once again for us. They are amazing at what they do. Compassionate, caring, professional organized and devoted to their animals from rescues to all those whom foster. Trust in them to do good by you. If you are lucky enough to be approved you have “Struck Gold”. Thank you again for everything you do!!

Had lost our 2 older doggies close together and was finally ready to find another companion. Just thought this time I’d try to give a home to a “homeless” little guy/gal. Knew a little bit about the local PAWS organization from lady who sat with our two when we were away. Turned to them and they happened to have a litter of Terrier mix looking for homes. The foster mom/dad had them in a nice clean temporary home when we visited. How can you say No to cute little black & white puppies? There was a review of us as possible adopting people. Promises made in writing to make sure our chosen one would receive proper vet care and plenty of love. A fee was charged to help with the beginning expenses and to also I knew to make sure people adopting were serious about a commitment to this animal.
Questions were answered as she was our first new puppy. Yes, a female. We told foster mom we didn’t have a preference.
Felt good about taking her home knowing best of care given previously we should have a healthy puppy to raise. Two years later, Rosie is a big part of our family of two older cats. Would recommend Cathy, Esther & Jerry that we worked with. Organization professionally ran.

In May of 2022, a emaciated female dog showed up in our yard. We also have another female dog that was abandoned the year before. We started feeding her but she wouldn’t come close to us. On June 4, 2022 she gave birth to 10 puppies under our storage shed. Three weeks after the puppies were born, mom was hit by a truck. Thank God she survived. I didn’t know her condition after I was told she was hit so I went to a local Facebook page and asked for help getting the puppies out from under the shed. Paws of Dale Hollow, Cathy, drive a half hour to our house and let me know that they would take on the burden and expense of mom and the puppies if I could foster. We decided to keep mom and Paws paid her vet bills to have her spayed. They also provided vetting, food and whatever else I needed for the puppies. I have since worked with the group helping other puppies and dogs with vet visits and trips to the transport taking them to their forever homes. Paws is there for people like me with no questions asked.

We worked with Paws of Dale Hollow to rescue the cutest little dog I have ever seen. It was smooth and they bussed that little dog from TN. to Vermont and then a foster mom there drove her to us in Concord. I was shocked to find that the foster mom was a friend of mine I grew up with as next door neighbors when I was small. I suffer from PTSD and this little dog started showing signs of sensing my condition and trying to help me when it happened. I got a prescription for a service dog and a trainer and only 6 months later she was certified as my service dog, best friend and constant companion. Her name is Remi and I will always feel attached to Cathy Crocket and Paws for bringing us together.

I had been looking to adopt a dog for a long time when I came across Paws of Dale Hollow. Once I found “The One” I applied and waited patiently to see if I could adopt Olive. They were very thorough in their vetting process, which, admittedly was a bit frustrating at first! I quickly realized that they were more focused on getting the dog to a good forever home than just trying to send dogs just anywhere to be rid of them. Cathy was amazing throughout the whole process and I am so glad I got to adopt such an awesome dog!

We are so unbelievably happy with our experience adopting a pup from PAWS. We live in Vermont and it’s been near impossible to finally get a rescue, when our application was approved with PAWS, we were elated! Everyone involved behind the scenes was soo kind and thorough. They called all of our references and really showed they care about the animals they adopt out. Cathy was amazing when it came to all of my ridiculous questions and always took the time to answer them thoroughly. Moonshine (Jordan) is our first pup and I feel soo happy that she came from such a wonderful place. You can tell that her foundation was healthy and those weeks she was at the rescue made her a confident and happy pup. We are ideally going to get a second dog once in a year or two, and there’s no doubt that PAWS will be our first choice. I could not be happier with our experience.

I have adopted 2 pups from this great organization. First I adopted Dude (Uber) cause my 13 year old was sad and lonely after losing my 14 year old. They so loved each other till her passing last March. Which left Dude sad and lonely. Paws of Dale Hollow to the rescue with a little Beagle mix named Lacey. I adopted her in July. These two pups just love each other and are inseperatable. Cathy Crockett and Mary Shell are two incredible people with huge hearts. They take wonderful care of all these babies and make sure that they have good, safe and loving furever homes. I would have been so lost and lonely without their help. Thank you and God Bless you!

In December of 2008, I was living alone (and lonely) in the country in Newcastle, ME. I began looking at potential dogs to adopt and came across a few from PAWS of Dale Hollow....in was 10:30 PM. I decided to call and leave a message for Cathy Crockett, the contact, to call me back the next day, since it was so late. Well, Cathy answered the phone (at that time) and we talked about what I was looking for for hours. She listened and made her recommendation. I picked up Hank in Portland, ME, January 10, 2009....eleven years later he’s still with me. Although at @ 13 years old, I can say we have had a helluva great time...and will continue until he crosses that rainbow bridge. Paws ODH cares. They care about each and every puppy and dog in their care from rescue to transport to adoption. They hold owners accountable, they're thorough, the vet care is wonderful and they are transparent about everything. The whole process of adopting was great.
The transporter they use is reliable, and everything about the organization is legal and above board, unlike some less reputable rescue organizations, unfortunately.
My puppies arrived healthy and well-adjusted, with every vaccination up to date.
I have adopted two female puppies from this organization in the past year--one was fostered briefly, and one was not. The first puppy was a hound mix, the second an Australian cattle dog mix.
They are my companions and little buddies, and we love them so much!

6 years ago we began our journey with Paws of Dale Hollow when we decided to add to our family with a 2nd dog which resulted in our adopting our girl Gina. Gina instantly became our youngest daughters best friend ,protector and sleep buddy.
In 1 short year, we again adopted through Paws with the unexpected, but forever grateful addition in our Willow. Whom was previously adopted but returned by her previous adopters. When I saw her post on the Paws FB page, I instantly messaged by husband and he to agreed with "Tell them we want her!"
2 years ago, after the death of our old man Duke (the only testosterone in our house besides my husbands) we knew it was time to once again add our to our "farm" and we ONCE AGAIN turned to Paws of Dale Hollow to round out our need and want in rounding out out home with fur love.
I have recommended Paws on multiple occasions and will continue to do so as long as I possibly can. When and if, YEARS down the road, we decide to add to our farm Paws will be our go to than as well.
This organization is one of kind. We still keep in touch through Social Media a d they are ALWAYS available for advise when and if needed in regards to your pups.
Forever grateful and furever loved! ❤

I am very impressed with this rescue. Of course the best part is we have a dog who we totally love. The dog's story is probably similar to many rescues. He was a stray, so no real back story. But he was in a foster home for several months and he arrived well mannered and house trained.

I really enjoyed dealing with the President of the Rescue, Cathy Crockett, and the foster. There were weather, dog health, and my vacation related issues regarding pick up date and they were all easily handled. They were careful checking us out, which is a good thing. They care where the dogs go.

It is clear they care very much about the health and happiness of their pups. We feel really lucky to have found them.

I know Cathy Crockett for about 6 or 7 years. I met her through my daughter who fostered then ended up adopting one of Paws of Dale Hollow's puppies. We became friends through face book and it wasn't long before I was so impressed with her passion for helping homeless animals that I committed myself to helping her as much as I could. Unfortunately a thousand miles between the two of us limits how much we can actually help. So my wife and I are mainly involved in transporting short distances once the dogs arrive. We have also fostered for several dogs over the years. That's the hard part, giving them a temporary home for days, weeks, and sometimes months and returning the love they want to give, and one day, just like that, they move on to their forever home. They leave something behind every time though. Something that stays attached to your heart. You know you're doing the right thing, and you wish them the best life possible. But you miss them terribly. That's the hard part about fostering. And Cathy Crockett does it over and over every single week. As fosters we don't get to see the heartache from neglect and cruelty the Cathy is forced to see. It would break the average person. It would certainly get to me. I don't have the strength for that. But it's absolutely imperative that we help this fantastic group of people. They obviously don't ask for much. Lord knows if that was the case they wouldn't be doing what the do. I wish I lived closer to Paws of Dale Hollow. I wish that by doing so some of Cathy's character would run off onto me. She is the ultimate in both strength and gentleness where it really counts and I really wish I could do more. Joe B

Paws of Dale Hollow is a top notch rescue. Our family adopted from this organization approximately 7 years ago and remain in touch with the group to this day. From the thoughtful questions on the application, responsive communication throughout the adoption process, the care package each pup arrives with, to the continued offer of support to present day, I have nothing but praise for Paws of Dale Hollow. Our family went on to foster a number of pups with Paws, the communication and support remained outstanding. The rescuers are very knowledgeable and approachable. I know I am not alone in my admiration for the work this group does as I have noticed several of the adopters of my former fosters dogs are now adding new Paws dogs to their family and are assisting the organization. Without hesitation, I refer everyone who mentions that they would like to adopt a pup directly to Paws of Dale Hollow.

PAWS of Dale Hollow connected me with my beautiful puppy here in Massachusetts. They had a wonderful person who was in frequent contact with me throughout the adoption approval process. Once I was approved, I had more contact with my puppy’s foster home, and then again once the transportation began from TN to New England. She arrived in good healthy with all of her medical documentation in order.
Since my dog and I were connected, I had some questions and once again, they PAWS was available to respond and help with knowledgeable answers.

I was looking for a pup as my husband and I were prdparing for an empty nest with our 3 girls all in college. I found a pup on Petfinder and messaged about him. I was answered by Paws of Dale Hollow. We were told that he was still available and our application would be reviewed. A short time later we were told we were approved and transport was arranged about a week and a half later. We were then told he was being fostered by Mary at Shell Acres and we’re put in direct contact with her. It was perfect for us to know first hand his behaviors, habits, things that needed to be worked on and favorite toys, food and snacks. Transport went smoothly and we were greated by a gentlemen at the side of a large trailer truck and gently handed our new family member and all of his paperwork, with collar and leash. It’s been about 6 years and we are so thankful for this wonderful organization and all the hard work they do. We remain in touch and have even been able to ask questions and for support on training and product uses. Can’t say enough good about them. Attached is our boy Ajax

I adopted a puppy from PAWS of Dale Hallow in March of 2018. The process was clear and application was easy to fill out and submit. Throughout the process, I could tell that the staff really cares about each animal and is extremely picky about who they send them home with. They called my previous vet and two references I had included in the application. They followed up with me after I had gotten Patch to make sure everything was going good and to see if I had any questions. I am extremely pleased with this organization and will certainly use them again in the future. I included a picture of Patch when he graduated puppy school!

I went through several agencies in trying to find a new pup after our dog passed away last June. I came across paws of Dale Hollow on Petfinder.com. They had the most adorable pup I’ve ever seen so I sent an email to inquire about him and immediately received an email back from Cathy Crockett the CEO of the organization. She filled me in on a situation of where he came from and the dogs background and what they thought his parents breed was. She also sent me an application which I immediately filled out and sent back and within 24 hours they contacted my references and we were approved to get that little fella named Julip at the time. He was only six weeks old so we had to wait another two weeks before he could come from Tennessee via transport to Vermont. During that time Mary She’ll who works for Kathy and houses a majority of the pups sent us pictures and told us all about his personality and his habits. They were just such an amazing duo and such a great organization I have sworn that I will only adopt from the Paws of Dale Hollow in the future. A friend of mine also adopted a pup from Kathy and her group based on our recommendation and couldn’t be happier! They’re truly a wonderful organization being in business for 16 years they’re doing something right! I truly hope you consider them for funding, thank you!

We adopted our Glory girl about 1 1/2 years ago. She was found on the side of the road. She was very pregnant. Not too long after she gave birth to 9 babies, none of them survived. She was so underweight that you could tell that she just didn’t have the nutrients for a healthy pregnancy. PAWS didn’t hesitate to get her the medical attention she needed for her and her pups. There are no words to describe how I feel about the wonderful people at PAWS. I am so happy to be a part of their family.

I was so glad the team took the time to check our references and learned about our family before letting us become a part of their family. The extra effort on their part made sure to check that Trooper would fit in with our family. I’m super proud to be a part of the Dales Hollow PAWs family!

I have volunteered for PAWS for several years and you would be hard pressed to find a all volunteer organization with the dedication that everyone has for the dogs.
From the vet care to the every day care needs of the dogs nothing is left undone.
Dogs are healthy and happy when they leave us and go to their adoptive families. No expense is spared to heal the broken and sick dogs. We are only satisfied when they are healed and healthy before they're adopted. Yes, I definitely recommend them as a organization.

I saw a picture of my little Gidget on the Paws of Dale Hollow web site. I was just surfing n looking for a chihuahua mix. There she was her name was Bella. I texted them and told them I was very interested in Bella. I did the application with all the information that they required. I was really impressed that they called my local veterinarian to check how well I took care of the pets that I have. Then they called me as well and had a discussion with me about my pets if I thought they all would get along. I assured them i thought they all would. Then I received a call telling me I could have Bella if I still would like her. Of course I was delighted. I really appreciate how they checked on what kind of person I am and how responsible I was in taking care of my pets with the veterinarian. I would highly recommend adopting from Paws of Dale Hollow. Their pets are all vet checked and socialized before adopting out. An awesome awesome rescue. Thank you Cathy And team. You all are the best

Mere words could never express my admiration, love and respect for the PAWS organization. Being a "newbie" from the north, I wasn't familiar with the way people had dogs that were not a part of your family. They were "hunting" dogs. They are chained up 24 hours a day. The lucky ones had a plastic rain barrel for shelter; 10° - 100° weather. Rain or snow. Some weren't even that. Puppies dumped at the end of my street. Dogs starving, homeless, abused. PAWS made an unbearable situation, bearable. They never turned away one dog that came my way. They gave me and my furry friends hope. They are a remarkable organization and do everything for the dogs. They don't just find these wonderful animals homes; they make sure they will have a FABULOUS home. Their dogs come with a 100% guarantee. If you're not the perfect match, they want the dog back! Who does that?! My husband and I get such joy when we see a dog that we rescued. When we know how their life had meaning for someone else. Adopt from PAWS. It will be the best fur friend you will ever have.

Sadly one of our girls passed a few years ago but the other two are doing awesome despite their start in life.
We have done it again....we are excitedly awaiting the arrival of our newest family member, he comes tomorrow, this time a 5 month old puppy named Oliver (aka patch) adopting 4 dogs from them should be an indication of our thoughts on this company . Highly recommended !

My family and I did our first rescue/adoption through PAWS of Dale Hollow in 2012. Because it was our first time adopting from the south, we heard horror stories about southern rescues and were very nervous about this decision.

Our first sigh of relief came when we heard that Cathy was calling all of our references. And I mean all of them!

Our second sigh of relief came when our vet gave Finnick (fna Didka) a clean bill of health. He was perfect!

Our adoption experience through PAWS was more than we could have ever hoped for. Cathy and Mary have remained fixtures in our lives since we became part of the PAWS family. They have stayed in touch through Facebook and cards for the last 6 years (which is not true of the other dogs we have purchased through breeders).

If we ever adopted again, I can safely say that we would only go through PAWS because we know that when we adopt, we are not only getting a wonderful dog, but an entire network of love and support.

We adopted our Jake from PAWS almost 3 years ago now, and couldn’t be more pleased with our experience, from the moment we first saw Jake on Petfinder, until the day we met him at the puppy bus and held out our arms to him, to welcome him home.

Cathy Crockett was Jake’s recuer, foster Mom and angel. Cathy was instrumental in guiding us through the adoption process, answering my many questions and providing us with education, for example, the best and worst dog foods, and what Jake needed for food to keep him healthy, and growing, which was so helpful in transitioning Jake from puppy food to adult dog food, which we did shortly after adopting Jake, who was just shy of one year old when we brought him home.

Adopting a pup sight unseen was not something our family had ever done and so, with two small children, I had many questions about how this process worked. Cathy had many questions for us too, which we welcomed and respected, and which made it very clear that the welfare of the PAWS pups, and finding them the best fit for a forever home is the number one priority for PAWS. We were happy to provide our vet’s contact info and know that PAWS called to check to make sure our former pets were well cared for...we appreciated knowing PAWS took the time to do that. We felt honored that Cathy felt we were the best fit for Jake, and he was absolutely a perfect fit for us.

When and if we ever adopt another pup PAWS will be our first choice, hands down. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We cannot imagine our lives without Jake in it. He is a cherished family member who takes part in all of our adventures and is the sweetest and most loyal pup. We are forever grateful for PAWS and the amazing work that they do every single day! They dedicate their lives to making sure their pups can live a better life. Thank you.

I have had Poodles most of my life and wanted another for us and as a companion to my Toy Poodle Holly. It was time to adopt from rescue though and I had never done that before. I found my Levi on Petfinder with Paws of Dale Hollow in 2012. I filled out the application and had some phone calls back and forth, they called my references and I was approved. Not sure why someone (the one person with the negative post) would be so worried about when and where they could return their pet??? I consider my pets to be forever and would adopt from them again in a heartbeat. Any time I have had a question they have addressed it and I have continued to follow them and will. I seriously don't think the adoption fee was at all unreasonable and have seen others with much, much higher fees and some want the fee up front before you are even approved. Not so with Paws so I was not at all worried that they were a scam. There were some that I felt very uncomfortable with and stayed away from when they asked for a large sum of money up front just to fill out the adoption form. We also love our Levi dearly and he has been the best addition to our family that we could have asked for. Love this organization!

At first I was a bit nervous getting a puppy without meeting her first. I was also a bit intimidated by the questions that were asked on my application. However, Cathy and her posse are just passionate about their pups. They really care about placing the right puppy with the right family. The questions are all about making sure the fit is just right for both the dog and their potential family.

We are a high energy family and I really wanted a dog who could keep up with us and our outdoor lifestyle. As it turns out, PAWS has awesome fosters. My little Karma is the most beautiful soul. She is friendly and silly and a terrific cuddlier. I attribute this to her caregivers before she came to our family.

I was so impressed with PAWS that I became a foster in the Northeast for them. Every single one of our foster fur kids has been equally friendly and confident. Cathy and her crew really care about each and every one of their pups. They follow up on them and are happy to help out after the pups are adopted. PAWS is a family. We give advice and hints on training. If there is an issue, no matter how big or small, the PAWS family is here for you.

If you want to adopt a puppy who has known love and kindness, the PAWS family is the right place for you. If you want to know that we got your back, PAWS rocks.

This charity is one of the most responsible and worthwhile organizations I have known--they are worthy of philanthropic support as their work is necessary, well organized, and compassionate. While we were at first uncertain about adopting a dog we did not meet from the internet, Cathy and Mary made this process easy and personal for us. Cathy was patient as an administrator, guiding us through the application process and ensuring that we were the "right" parents for Ellie. Mary helped us to prepare for our new arrival, sharing Ellie's preferences and habits. Meeting Ellie at the "puppy bus" was one of the most joyous experiences of my life! At each turn, the Paws staff and foster mother were responsive to our questions and helpful in their suggestions. Our first vet's visit was positive and she was impressed by the care Ellie received at Paws--her vaccinations were just right and she only needed a few additional shots as appropriate to our Maine environment. I would recommend Paws of Dale Hollow wholeheartedly and unreservedly. We are honored to have Ellie move from the Paws family to our own.

I'm pretty sure I know who you are and I darn well know why you wrote that despicable review. Puppy Lover, boy you got that right don't you? There is more class in the poop the good people at Paws have to scoop up then you have in your whole body and your shyster organization! Our friends, Pam and Denny Schock, are PAWS of Dale Hollow volunteers. They would like to adopt all their furry friends but they know it isn't possible. So instead they foster dogs and puppies. Pam and Denny love them like one of the family. Sometimes they get too attached to them, and find it very hard giving them up for adoption to their forever homes. However, they keep on as PAWS volunteers because they know there is no other organization in the county to look after abused, neglected and abandoned animals. PAWS of Dale Hollow is their ONLY hope.

Prior to moving to this area, I was accustomed to having the county's animal control officers patrol the streets and pick up stray dogs and haul them to the pound where they were routinely "euthanized" if not claimed in 24 hours. Thanks to PAWS of Dale Hollow, Pickett County Tennessee does not treat it strays in that manner. PAWS volunteers provide kind and loving foster homes for the dogs and care for them until they are adopted. Oftentimes, the stray is a pregnant female in which case, dedicated PAWS volunteers care for the mother until she delivers her liter and when the pups are weaned, find homes for the pups and the mother dog. If the animals are sick or have special needs, they receive whatever medication or treatment they need. PAWS volunteers provide an essential service in our community and I commend them for the fine job they are doing.

We adopted our 4 month old lab mix Millie in March of this year, and we were so pleased with the PAWS of Dale Hollow team and the process that when we saw our adult dog Oliver this summer, we fell in love and adopted him as well. The adoption process was extremely fair, and I appreciated the adoption application and Lorretta's thorough questions. I also appreciated the fact that she contacted all of our references. The PAWS Team wants to make sure their dogs are going to be well cared for and are going to forever home. The best part is that they are always there if you need them for advice. Millie and Oliver are our first dogs, their foster mom, Mary, and Cathy are alway available to give advice on any questions I had (or still have), and they never make me feel like I am bothering them! When I found "Chelsea" thru PetFinders and contacted Cathy, she very quickly responded to my email inquiries, informing me of the cost and the procedure. Once approved with had "Chelsea" by the end of the week. Even after receiving the pup, she answered all my questions about some concerns we had, even offering to pay for doggy training. This pup has become my dad's constant companion. He is visually impaired, and she helps maintain his independence, and gives him a purpose every day.

In 2013, my husband and I decided it was time to get another dog. I saw a pup thru PAWS FB page that caught my attention, that needed a foster home, and my we agreed to foster him (with the intention that we would probably adopt him). After we had him a couple of months, we realized that he was going to be bigger than our little apartment was going to hold, and he had so much energy that it wasn't going to be fair to force him to be an apartment dog, so we got in touch with Cathy. She worked with is to find another rescue organization that was local to us that specialized in the breed of dog our pup was. It was devastating to give him up, but it was in his best interest to be in a better environment, and Cathy worked with us every step of the way. Never once making us feel bad because we couldn't keep this pup.

I would adopt from Cathy in a heart beat!

The group at PAWS of Dale Hollow are a wonderful group of people who are in this for the dogs and only the dogs. I believe if they all lives on large farms, none of these dogs would ever make it for adoption because they would keep and love and spoil them all!

I adopted my dog through Paws of Dale Hollow two years ago this month. They were very thorough in their application process which I found to be impressive. These people make sure their dogs go to good homes. In the application process I was asked to provide three character references and Loretta called each and every one of them. Do you know how many times references are requested but never followed up on? It happens a lot! Again, these folks take the time to be sure their dogs are going to the right home. If you're not the right fit, you're application will be denied. That's how it should be. Loretta was fostering my dog and to this day she still checks in and asks how he is doing. The dogs that pass through this rescue are loved from the very beginning. Their dogs are treated with respect and their well being is always number one. Some rescues might cater to potential adopters in an attempt to get a dog into any home, but not these people. If you want to be coddled and catered to you're simply doing it wrong.

I first met PAWS volunteers in 2008 when a mother dog and her 2 pups were dumped near our home. This was a routine situation where, before PAWS, our only choices were to look the other way (not gonna happen) or try and help the dogs ourselves. Two PAWS volunteers came to our home to meet the dogs and offered assistance with food, vet and medicine if we could foster. We did and this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Since then PAWS has helped us with approximately 10 stray dogs, mostly pregnant females and their pups, and because of this I have also started volunteering with them. Every penny PAWS gets whether its through donations or adoption fees goes solely for the care of the dogs. Currently all the dogs are fostered in private homes but PAWS is looking toward acquiring a facility so they can help many more animals, because there are more in need that can be helped right now. I'm so happy to have met them and honored to be able to help in my small ways.

I have been a donor of Paws of Dale Hollow since 2008. Previously I had donated to PAWS Chicago as they began a transition to a new facility. I stopped the Chicago donation when I decided to retire in Byrdstown TN and realized the Paw's of Dale Hollow organization needed my funding more than PAWS Chicago. (A fine organization).
The Paw's of Dale Hollow organization has proven to be a stellar operation with good direction. The organization is driven solely by volunteers. That is volunteers who have a strong desire, big hearts and a constant drive (at any time of the day), to assist any animal in need of help. Most instances require the volunteers to turn over their own homes, as fosters, to help the animals get "back on their feet". I am making this sound too "simplistic" due to space constraints as this picture involves much more including vet visits, assessments, possibly daily medication and preparing the animals for adoption in a healthy physical state. No dog is put up for adoption unless it's judged to be ready for the transition into a new home that also must meet the requirements of the organization.

In 2007, I was looking for a dog as I had lost mine to cancer. I went on line and googled the type of dog I wanted. I was directed to Pickett County Humane Society. After exchanging emails and phone calls with Cathy, she arranged to have someone come out to meet me and inspect my property for fitness. Once that was done, I got me new dog named Will. Five years later, Will is the greatest little dove ever. In 2010, I saw a toy poodle on their web site named Peanut. I adopted my little special needs dog. He weighed about seven pounds. He, too, was my constant companion...sadly in May of this year, I lost Peanut to a brain tumor. Now I have Bella, a pup and such a wonderful dog......from Cathy.

In all the years I've known Cathy, I have never known her to be unresponsive towards either me or my dogs. I suspect if it was not for Cathy and her organization, many dogs would not be alive today....

This rescue is a complete joke! First of all they aren't clear at all about their procedure and they lie! I was looking at a dog from them and in the first email Cathy sent me she said that she and her rescue were "directly linked" to a shelter in NH and she said if there was any problem with the relationship between dog and owner that the people in NH would help you out. So after saying this and that I have 15 days to give back the dog, I assumed that I could give the dog back to the shelter in NH. WRONG! After I filled out an application and was approved, she put me in contact with one of her volunteers, Loretta, who was very pushy on the phone and wouldn't even properly answer my questions! When I asked if I can return the pup if there was a problem to the place in NH, she answered back with would you return your own child!? What kind of response is that? She also said that they aren't linked with a shelter in NH. What!? When I told Cathy this and how she practically said that they wouldn't take the pup back and if it was true, she said that Loretta would never say that and she denied my application! She seriously denied my application because I asked a question and accused her beloved employee! Oh and she also said that they aren't linked with a shelter in NH even though she herself said they are. Loretta apparently called it a rescue which isn't true. It's actually a shelter. Plus there was a different story of how the dog was found on petfinder and a different one from Cathy herself! These people are seriously crazy and I would stay far away if I was you! They are very unprofessional and don't know how to run a business. If they told me from the beginning where would I return the dog, i'm guessing Tennesse, then I wouldn't have wasted my time. But they made it seem that they were working with NH, just so they can get the dog adopted. What a bunch of bull. I hope all the dogs get taken away from them and they get shut down. I've dealt with many shelter/rescue people and none of them have been this rude before. Stay far away!

I became familiar with this organization via friends on Facebook. I have followed their activities with increasing admiration over time. This is an all-volunteer organization which always puts the animals first -- there are no fancy offices, no salaries, no staff retreats at resorts. Donations are used solely for the benefit of the dogs in their care. And this group of warm-hearted, kind people provide wonderful care to the needy animals in their area. Although I live clear across the country from Pickett County, I feel privileged to be able to support their efforts.

We found PAWS via Petfinder when we were looking for a new dog to bring home. We have always adopted dogs that were strays or unwanted, and we were impressed with the devotion of the PAWS rescue people. The folks at PAWS were incredibly helpful - and thorough when finding out about our backgrounds. When we chose our boy, we found out he had had a rough start, but they did everything they could to help ease his transition and today we have a loving, energetic dog. He still has fear issues, but he has overcome so many obstacles and the result is a rescue dog who is a brilliant companion. We are grateful for the foundation they gave Kai, and for the realization that he could grow and mature if he had a forever home.
