Programs: Healthy start: healthy start program is a statewide program that provides home visits to first time mothers who have certain risk factors that put their infants at-risk for child abuse. Through a contract with lane county, we serve eligible families in lane county. Our family support workers provide parenting education and support, model appropriate interactions, perform developmental screenings, provide referrals to resources, and help parents identify and meet goals. curricula sales and training: through our parenting now division, we extend our mission and share our expertise with other organizations that work with families through the sales of our nationally recognized parenting education curricula and trainings. Over 150 sites in oregon and 850 sites nationwide and in 14 other countries have purchased our curricula since 1997.
parenting: the first three years is a group based parenting education and support program based for new families. It focuses on the developmental stages of the children and issues related to the development faced each year by parents. A professional birth to three parent educator meets with groups of families who have children of similar age and needs.
teen parents program is a group based parenting education and support program for pregnant and parenting teens, 12- 21 years of age. It includes weekly group meetings, home visits, assistance in accessing community resources and is based on our make parenting a pleasure curriculum. Make parenting a pleasure is a group based parenting education and support program for parents who are experiencing high levels of stress and have of children aged 0-8. Parents learn how to manage stress, improve communication, positive discipline strategies and how to access resources. This program is also offered in spanish, using our culturally adapted haga de la paternidad un placer. Crecer is a program for families whose primary language is spanish. A professional birth to three parent educator facilitates this group-based parenting education and support program tailored for the families it serves. Welcome baby open house is an opportunity for first time parents to come to birth to three to receive inforamation on community resources, infant development, and basic infant care. Parent helpline is a telephone based support/informative service. It provides peer support, parenting information and encouragement, referrals to other services and follow-up calls and is facilitated by a professional birth to three parent educator.
