Mission: The mission of the paramount theater of charlottesville, inc. Is to operate the restored historic paramount theater, located in downtown charlottesville, va for the artistic, educational, and charitable benefit of its community, including the entire central virginia area.
Programs: The paramount theater provided a variety of programming in various genres including live music, dance, theater, lecture series and spoken word and film for a total of 296 events during fiscal year 2016- 17. Included in the total number of performances was the 2016-17 paramount arts education program which presented 9 live educational productions totaling 18 performances during the school year. In attendance were 16,000 students and educators from area schools (56 public schools from 12 school divisions as well as private and home school groups). All students received subsidized tickets and approximately 4,000 received full financial assistance. In addition to the performances noted, the theater provided 23 historic tours of the building, which over 330 participants enjoyed free of charge. Additionally, the theater continued to offer a full season of the metropolitan opera live in hd broadcast and live broadcast events of community significance. The theater continues to offer use of the facility at a discounted rate to nonprofit organizations and corporations.
