Mission: Support of the pacific grove public library: the mission of the friends of the pacific grove public library is to encourage and maintain a broad-based membership that is supportive of the library. Through its financial support, the friends works with the library to develop resources, library services, and facilities for the community. The friends actively recruits library patrons and solicits funding for the library through membership, donations, and fund raisers.
Programs: The mission of the friends of the pacific grove library is to help ensure that our library is a thriving community center for discovery and lifelong learning. We commit annually to fund the acquisition of books and materials and to support childrens programming. We also step in when unanticipated events or opportunities are outside the librarys budget. For example, when the library director had a serious medical condition and was out on leave, we supported a temporary part time position to help with the work load. We funded the first stage in the librarys interior renovation. And, we are currently funding the development of a bilingual reading program to be offered in one of the underserved areas of the city of pacific grove.
