Causes: Arts & Culture, Science & Technology Museums
Mission: The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a scientific, educational, and cultural resource center dedicated to improving the public's understanding of science and technology. OMSI makes science exciting and relevant through exhibits, programs, and experiences that are presented in an entertaining and participatory fashion.
Target demographics: OMSI offers something for visitors of all ages. From a special hall just for kids ages 0-6 to a special monthly night at the museum just for the 21 and over crowd.
Programs: Museum activities (science exhibits) - five exhibit halls and eight science labs offer 219,000 square feet of brain-powered fun through hundreds of interactive exhibits and hands-on demonstrations. Omsi had 556,000 visitors this year.
educational programs (science camps and classes) - omsi offers a variety of camps and classes as well as one of the largest outreach programs in the nation, taking innovative science and technology education "on the road" to students, teachers and the public in five western states.
