When you volunteer at OCP you can feel the love and support for our fantastic troops! Everyone there is dedicated to getting packages (stuffed with wonderful goodies) sent to our servicemen and women. The thank you letters and pictures show the appreciation of our awesome troops!
The history of this charity really is an amazing one. One woman's dream, inspired by her brother when he was deployed (years ago), a few friends to help... A wonderful movement was born. Now, thanks to that dream, thousands of deployed soldiers lives have been touched by the generosity and donations of others. It's truly inspiring to read the soldiers notes of thanks and to hear how much these care packages mean/meant to them. It's in no way possible without the generous hearts of the volunteers and the people who collect the donations and the people who donate. I am so blessed to be able to say that I have been affiliated with OCP for over 13 years and watched it grow from one woman's house (basement, living room, dining room, kitchen... Wherever she could store the items to be sent to the soldiers) to now needing a much larger space to be able to accommodate all of the donations and supplies to be sent to even more soldiers. Make no mistake... This is a love thing. A love of our volunteers, a love of the people who so generously continue to donate, but most of all a love for the hearts of our soldiers (past, present and future) who so generously give of themselves in order to protect and serve each of us. God Bless each and every one of those mentioned in this review. LET NO HERO BE FORGOTTEN!
Never in my life have I been so impressed with the hearts of the people involved with OCP, Inc. I have been associated with this group for many years now (over 10) and have watched it grow steadily over the years. From one woman's heart for all soldiers, she started sending packages to any soldier deployed overseas. Most of this was done by faith (not knowing where items would come from and would there be enough for everyone on that week's list and would there be enough money for postage, etc.) and blood, sweat and tears. Debbie and a small group of friends kept the faith and have, by no small miracles, managed to make many many soldiers feel her heart's desire... that No Hero Be Forgotten. If ever you wanted to do something for your country... for the soldiers... for a worthwhile group... This is the one to check out and lend a hand to. Thanks so much, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you have done, and continue to do, for our Heroes. God Bless!
I started volunteering 1 1/2 years ago after my first son joined the military. Now I have 2 sons in the military. I look forward to going each week. It's always nice to hear from our troops when they receive a care package.
I've been volunteering for OCP for years. I got involved after they sent packages to my son and two son-in-laws while they were serving our country overseas. Seeing how much of a difference that their giving means to our soldiers, I knew I had to be part of this wonderful, giving group.
I have been volunteering for about 7 months now and honestly it is the one thing I look forward to every week. The men and women volunteering at Operation Care Package are the nicest people I have met and so caring. I am glad to be a volunteer for ocp :)
I've volunteered with OCP in whatever way I can for probably 5 or 6 years.. and I know these people are real, from the very heart people on a mission every day they're involved. It's all about remembering the guys and gals out there on the front line defending what the rest of us sometimes take for granted - the freedom we enjoy in the good old USA! There's something here for everyone to help out with, it'd be hard for me to answer the 'let me count the ways' there are so many opportunities to help. They are always ready to step up to the plate and get the job done with the same goal in mind, remembering the awesome troops out there giving their all each and every day. Great group! You'd be amazed at all they do.
OCP is such a wonderful organization. It has grown considerably since its conception, but still has a down home feeling to it. Debbie and her crew work diligently to send care packages to our troops. They send needed items, and they also send love. Everyone always has a smile on their face. You can tell that the people who volunteer with this organization truly care about our military. I don't live close enough to volunteer on a weekly basis, but help out whenever I can. I would strongly recommend OCP to anyone wanting to volunteer.
I have been a volunteer for Operation Care Package for 10 years and I can sum it up by saying THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!
I have been a volunteer for 1 1/2 yrs and I hope for many more. This is a great group of people that I feel honored to work with. To be able to say "Thank You" to those whose defend our freedoms with this group is a very humbling feeling.
I have been a member of Operation Care Package for the past 4 years. Being a rement from the Viet Nam War, I still am very passionate about our soldiers & their families. I feel like I have rewound the clock. I have picked up from where I left off in the 60's. And I am very proud & fortunate that I am able to help in any way. I pray for our troops, vets & families every day, because they have sacrifaced so much for so many. I just wish our fellow Americans would give them more support. I hope that the work we do thru OCP will keep spreading the word & let others know how they can make a difference.
I have supported Operation Care Package by participating in a motorcyle "poker" run they held. I've collected donations outside a local store to help fund packages. I promote this organization through word of mouth and Facebook about the many charity events they hold to raise money in support of our troops overseas. I personally have corresponded with an online friend who received an OCP gift before Christmas, I had supplied the group his name. He was so happy to have received the socks and candy. Also participated in the Wreaths over America which placed wreaths on graves of servicemen and women in my area. Many many hours of volunteer efforts go into the organization weekly and I am so proud to be a very small part of their worthwhile fundraising efforts.
I've been a member of Operation Care Package for 10 years and I'm proud to say that it's a wonderful organization. The amount of support that the group gives to our military is above and beyond what anyone can imagine. We work tirelessly to get donations and contributions so that care packages can be sent to as many of our military as possible. I know firsthand that the care packages we send (especially at Christmas) are deeply appreciated by the heroes who receive them.
I have known Debbie for six years now and this is one of the best support groups for our troops. She works tirelessly and I wonder how she does it sometimes, but God Bless her and the work she does.
OCP IS wonderful!!! Debbie and her volunteers are all heart and care about every person and troop that comes their way! They make the most out of every inch of space they have...There is no issue that comes their way that is too small or too big to have their attention! Debbie heads Wreaths Across America in the area every year....There are a few programs and organizations in the area, but Debbie and her group personally know these families and troops...will pick up the phone and handle what issue might arise for them and try to help...they are AMAZING! ♥

Great organization that is always looking for what they can do for our troops ~ be it a fundraiser to earn money to send packages ,collecting from schools, bake sales, selling of military branch items,etc..... A tireless group of people that support & honor our troops !!!
When the war started in Iraq, I wanted so much to do something to help show my support for the troops. I found OCP online and saw what a giving operation it is. Debbie Smothers and her assistants have done so much to help so many over the years. Working seven days a week to raise money for postage, or donations for packages has made this so successful. Thousands!!! of packages have been sent to our troops. She goes above and beyond in making certain that they have everything they would need or want if home. In summer they have chap stick and suntan lotion, etc. In winter, knit caps, blankets, etc. Games are sent, along with chocolate, cookies, snacks, etc, along with all kinds of entertainment items. She's gone personally to funerals of "Fallen Soldiers" in her surrounding area, as well as had returning soldiers acknowledged and thanked, at events that she organizes. So much love and giving go into everything she does to show her gratitude to our troops, along with so many that work with her. She works with Wreaths Across America, to have wreaths laid and every year has hopes to lay more than the previous, which I am proud to be a part of. Donations come in by truckloads with people wanting to help her cause. If I lived up there in Chicago, you'd find me at her warehouse physically helping. Although I've said so much, this organization is so much more. It's a clear message of Thanks, love and giving. You cannot imagine the great things Debbie comes up with for raising money and how she works non-stop during her "free time" (?) to just keep on giving and giving and giving. All her assistants are God sent and OPERATION CARE PACKAGE, INC is so extremely blessed, as well as the people whose life it has touched.
I also am a donor and a mother of a son who has served 5 tours I also have friends and former students in the Military.OCP has supported all my people . The men and women who have received packages all express a big thank you to all who unselfishly give of themselves in many ways to support OCP. My son also would like to express his thanks for all the packages for him and his fellow military family.
