Causes: Human Services
Mission: To provide comprehensive services to children and adults with a wide range of abilities and various disabilities, (i. E. Mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsey, spina bifida & learning disabilities).
Programs: The agency operates 11 supervised group homes, 3 supervised apartments, and 17 supported apartments on staten island in intergrated communities. The supervised settings operate 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. The supported apartments are supervised once per day 5 days per week. The daily activities of individuals in these homes follows a similar routine as individuals without disabilities. The agency also provides supported employment for those individuals who have the potential to work in competitive community jobs when they are a qualified age or graduate from high school. The agency provides day habilitation and job training at four sites serving 180 individuals. In addition the agency provides recreational programs to mentally disabled individuals. The programs emphasize fitness, aquatics, team sports, fundamental motor skills that are appropriate to the age of the individuals.
