On Course Foundation has truly been life changing for me! Thank you for the opportunity to be apart of this great brotherhood.
As an honored member of the On Course Foundation, this Veteran centered, golf focused, not-for-profit organization coordinated for nine of its members (me as one) the opportunity to support the Arnold Palmer Invitational (API) golf tournament in Orlando, as a standard bearer (carrying a sign of the pro-golfer and their score).
The Professional Golfer I walked with was Joel Dahmen. This man was a true gentleman and showed me an attitude of genuine friendship.
Toward the latter part of the 18 holes, Dahmen's caddie (Geno) says to me, "I gotta split after hole 16, can you loop (caddy) Joel's bag the last two holes?" My response.. ummmm, no?!?! HECK YEAH, BROTHER!!!
THANK YOU On Course Foundation!
If a picture is worth a thousand words (here's a couple grand)!!!
(Did I say I am excited!?!?!)
Ever since I joined On Course Foundation I have been able to connect with some of the best people I know. Ever since day one, I have been very pleased with the way each event has been run. During the most recent 6 day clinic everything ran better than I could ever expect. I truly feel that joining OCF has opened my eyes in a whole new light to the game of golf. I cant thank this organization enough for everything they have done for myself and veterans like me. Thanks again!
As a first time participant of the On-Course Foundation, I can say that I was blown away. It was amazing being a part of such commodore. The clinics surely helped me in my game, I am definitely better for it. Meeting each of my fellow Veterans and hearing some of your stories truly inspired me. Thank you to the On-Couse foundation and the donors for such an amazing clinic and scramble.
To you members, new and old, I have had one of the the best 6 days of my life. There is nothing better than good company, good weather and good golf. Thanks to the ONCOURSE Foundation USA, we all had an opportunity to enjoy a memorable event which in my opinion was second to none, I have been affiliated with ONCOURSE USA since 2013, winning Captain of the 2016 Simpson Cup at Oak Hill , and have attended various events throughout my membership. This ranks at the top of the list. Shawn has transformed this organization into something he himself could only have a vision for. He was my Vice Captain and my choice to appoint him was a no brainer. The organization cares about the individuals who they invite. You are among the few if invited to one of these events because quality is at the top of the list and what this organization is about. Good people who are team players and are willing to help themselves and others better their opportunities for employment and gain knowledge of the game of golf. I enjoyed meeting new members and reuniting with old comrades. Going forward I can only see great things happening for this organization. With that said, thank you John Simpson, Shawn Whitmore for giving me an opportunity to surround myself with great people.
This was my first event with The On Course Foundation. I was blown away by the facility’s and accommodations. The organizers were on top of everything. From food to, lessons, to tee times. It’s also great to find another activity in which I share a common interest with fellow veterans, allowing another venue for that always needed camaraderie. With the added benefit of promise of employment in an activity of interest
I was introduced to the game of golf through On Course Foundation in 2017. With the challenges of golf and the relationships found through this organization. I was able focus on the positives in life and find that competitive feeling I thought was gone after being severely injured. After 2 years of hard work and the support of not only the OCF staff but from other members. I accomplished my goal to make the 2019 Simpson cup Team.
I have been involved with On Course Foundation USA for about 4 years. This organization has had such a positive impact on my life. I have formed incredible friendships with both US and UK veterans filling a major void since leaving the military. I have had the opportunity to compete on some of the most prestigious golf courses in the US and UK. The golf instruction has been well planned and run professionally by instructors who are extremely knowledgeable at all levels of play. The events are very well planned and run efficiently and effectively. Keep up the good work.
I have been involved with On Course for the past three years. Through the course of my experience to now, I continue to be honored and humbled to be a part of it. The events that I have attended provide a welcoming, brotherly feel. They are extremely well planned and executed and have allowed me to build lasting friendships with people all over the world that I otherwise would have never known. The connection with these brothers goes far beyond just the game of golf. It is a feeling that is hard to describe until you experience it. I recommend anyone that has the opportunity to get involved with this organization.
Professionalism to the MAX!
I have been involved with the On Course Foundation for 8 years as a golf instructor and Team USA coach for the Simpson Cup.
This organization has brought tremendous opportunities and hope to patriots of this nation in all aspects.
On Course does not just check boxes for Veterans but find them jobs in the golf industry all the way from food and beverage to golf professionals.
If you are looking for an opportunity to be with fellow brethren and better yourself this is the organization.
I have been involved with the On Course Foundation since the inception. In my professional opinion; this organization goes steps further then other golf foundations, seeing that On Course finds Ladies and Gentlemen jobs within golf. I have seen some awesome stories evolve from the On Course Foundation and it's members. This is attributed to how the instruction is delivered and the progression of the members through the program. I hope to be involved with On Course until I can not stand anymore. A truly wonderful program, staff and members that I would highly recommend to any injured or ill service member that would like to be involved with golf.
Their mission is to help members find purpose and pride in what they do. They truly understand the comradery lost once we leave service. The events I have participated in are second to none and have given me life long friends and a growing support group. Thank you for what you continue to do for all service members.
I have been associated with On Course for the past 3 years and have never been disappointed with any of there events. I have been reunited with fellow veterans and met a few new ones also. Sharing our stories and struggles is the most rewarding thing for me. We draw strength from one another as well as the occasional jabs. I have never been treated with such admiration for what I have done in my professional career. They associate themselves with some of the best clubs in the world and those members are absolutely the most genuine people I have ever met.
OnCourse Foundation, has provided me with resources and opportunities that previously didn’t exist. Their professionalism and dedication to our former military men and women is unparalleled. Thanks for all you’ve done and will continue to do.
On Course Foundation USA is the best organization for Veterans and Disabled Veterans. The game of golf is a wonderful outlet for us and helping us find employment after all we have known is stripped away is second to none. This organization is life changing and life saving!
Thank you to On Course Foundation USA for the great opportunity to be with some of my fellow veterans. Attended the Kernwood cares event this past week and had an outstanding time. The staff at Kernwood were amazing and the friendliness of all the members is truly astonishing and heart felt. Thank you to Shawn Whitmore for inviting me to this special event. Shawn did a fantastic job of coordinating everything and making this amazing.
Being new to the game of golf, it is great to have organizations like the On Course Foundation that provides training for us to either learn or get better at the game. Also, you are encouraged to get better at the game to become competitive.
To top it off, they also help you on your personal life by providing work opportunities within the golf industry if it is what you derive.
Overall it is a great organization to include the interaction with other veterans that provide us the opportunity to create new friends that share the same interest as me.
I was part of the 2 day clinic at Bridlewood in Flowermoud TX. I had a foot time, learn some new techniques and met new friends.
Thank you for the opportunity.
Amazing, amazing organization with an ‘at home’ atmosphere and excellent quality of instruction from the staff. Definitely recommend any Veteran who is interested in golf and wants to improve their game; get involved!!
I recently was introduced to this amazing organization. I am currently doing a 2 day golf workshop and Simpson Cup qualifier. Shawn Whitmore is an inspiration to us Veterans and I look forward to our future endeavors. Semper Fidelis
Awesome experience with On Course Fondation here at Bridlewood Golf Course in Flower Mound, TX. Thank you Sean and staff at Bridlewood for hosting us.
Spend 2 days in Palm Springs at there golf skills clinic. It was a great time with other wounded veterans. The clinics were amazing and the on course staff made sure everyones needs were met. Look forward to more events with On Course Foundation.
I had the honor of attending a Simpson Cup qualifier held by On Course Foundation. Everything about the qualifier was top notch. The staff was amazing in making sure everyone was having a great time. I use golf as a mental and physical recovery tool, and On Course does everything they say they do and more to help service members utilize golf as a recovery tool. I look forward to the next time I can attend an On Course Foundation event.
I appreciate these guys a lot. They are a lot of fun and have some very cool events. Can’t wait for the next one.
What an organization. Had the opportunity to represent team USA at the Simpson for this foundation. Incredible experience. Being able to golf alongside so many fellow veterans with similar experiences is hard to find outside of oncourse foundation. Will definitely continue to be a part of this great group.
I attended my first On Course Foundation event this past year and it was an amazing event. It was organized very well and was an extremely welcoming organization and group of people. What this organization does by bringing veterans together and providing opportunities through golf is extremely important and I am very proud to be a part of it.
Wonderful opportunity to represent the USA while making great friends along the way. The On Course Foundation has been of great assistance in assisting me overcome so many of my self imposed limitations.
Team USA coach has been the most rewarding thing in my career as a PGA professional. The ladies and gentlemen that I have had a chance to meet have changed my life 100%. John Simpson’s vision has come to fruition and has changed the lives of hundreds of well deserved injured veterans. I am extremely proud to be a part of this orgklanization.
OnCourse came into my life at the perfect time! I have been golfing for a few years at this point but I was not connected to any other veterans. I also was in a tough place with my pain management. OnCourse introduced me to other veterans that I can now say, will be life long friends. They will forever hold a special spot in my heart and I thank anyone who has ever been a part of this program. They have truly made it the best I have come across. Thank you!
It’s hard to find an organization with the quality of individuals, spirit, organization, or professionalism that the On Course Foundation has. And yet here they are exemplifying every single one of those qualities on every single occasion. There are no better ambassadors for the game of golf, disabled veteran community, or the armed forces in its entirety than The On Course Foundation.
On Course embraced me and the challenges that I thought were uniquely mine after leaving the military. They helped me identify with the sport of golf and explore career options. While employment in the game isn’t in my cards, volunteering in the game to assist veterans has been. Thank you On Course Foundation for all you have done for me and fellow servicemen and women.
The 12-18 March 2018 :Arnold Palmer Invitational / Bay Hill 7-day Tournament Experience Event was indeed a remarkable experience. The opportunty provided by the staff was a life time experience
Last week this time while vacationing in Orlando, I signed in to play a round of golf, the starter asked if I would mind pairing up with the two guys in line in front of me. I don't usually mind, it's a great way to meet new people, little did I know I would be getting paired up with two real life heros. From the introductions I could tell there was something special about Mike and John, they were super polite and extremely welcoming, I knew I was in for a great afternoon. We started talking and Mike told me about the On Course Foundation and what they do and that he and John were both "wounded warriors" but that obviously wasn't letting that hold either of them back. Having grown up in a military household and doing a lot of work with both active duty and veteran organizations we hit it off right away. We shared many laughs that afternoon (not just about our golf games). You would be hard pressed to find two better ambassadors for your organization. I look forward to working with them in the future and wish you nothing but the best. Merry Christmas!
My name is L. Craig, I recently attended an On Course Foundation event as a guest of another veteran in the organization. The event was a lot of fun but most importantly, it was well organized and informative. The coordinator Mike Lacey was an inspirational and gracious host who made me feel welcome from the start. I was invited to the foundation by a friend, I never expected to meet a new family...
My name is R. A. Headges. I greatly thank you On Course Foundation and specially Mike Lacy, for giving me and the rest of the Wounded Veterans, this amazing opportunity to experience and to participate in the 3 Day Golf Skills Improvement and Employment Event. We had an enjoyable time and we definitetely learned a lot about the golf industry.
To start. the management/opperations approach is centered upon creating extraordinary guess and member experiences by delivering superior service, preferred brands of clothing, golf carts, amenities and playing surfaces. The grounds operations is commited to achieving agronomic excellence, by using top of the line equipment, products, and improving upon proven techniques, which enables them to have one of the best playing surfaces in the Atlanta area. They maintain excellent turf health.
The food and beverage was a dinning experience. Great food selection. They ensure that the high level of quality food and service remains consistent. The formula for their success includes superior training, diverse menu selections, and affordable food and beverages.
We also learned about daily fee & marketing, events/golf tournaments scheduling and management operations.
Ms. Heidy and Anthony provided topnotch golf instructions to the participating veterans, making it a memorable experience. Veterans with various skills level and backgroung were able to participate in the instructions and even got to play golf.
These 3 days motivated us to discover more about the many opportunities your foundation has to offer. This experience was very helpful for me because. I was able to get out of the house and be myself around my fellow veterans. Participation in this program, with your support, has given me a boost of confidence in my everyday life.
My name is Jerry Graham and I was invited to participate with OCF by a fellow wounded veteran and it gave me an opportunity to be sociable with other wounded veterans from around the surrounding areas and be involved with learning more about golf. This organization is superb and the coordinator ( Mike Lacy) was caring and considerate. The experience has really been a learning opportunity and the knowledge obtained has helped me adjust as well as consider future opportunities to participate in the entire golf arena. The detailed overview of what it takes to support day to day course operations helped me appreciate the participants from in house to grounds keepers all the more. The lessons were informative for novice to experienced golfers and the willingness to assist those with special needs were second to none! Thank you Oncourse Foundation for the experience of a lifetime. I am going to share the experience with other veterans so that they too can have the excellent experience that OCF afforded me.
OCF is an amazing charity that assists wounded veterans to get their life "back on course". The events are run by OCF's US coordinator who is an injured retired Service Member, an American Hero, yet humble and kind in every way. The team of PGA professionals that assist from the Marriott Grande Vista in Orlando are second to none in their care and instruction of the injured former Service Members. OCF not only teaches these heroes the game of golf with intricate instruction, they assist these fine warriors in life skills, guiding them thru a difficult transition from service to civilian life. The events are top notch and I have witnessed first hand the participants' enrichment in all aspects of life thru the game of golf.
I want to thank On Course Foundation for being there when I needed a friend. I was feeling down and out and On Course Foundation came through helping me find employment in the golf industry. The friendship and camaraderie is something I was missing after I retired from the Army and now I have new found friend I can call on anytime. I've been able to move to a better position in the golf industry because On Course Foundation is always looking out for the veterans. I'll be forever grateful.
I have participated in two clinics with On Course Foundation, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this family. I call it a family because that is how I feel after being around a great group of guys. I wanted information about the golf industry and On Course have provided much needed guidance. I hope more individuals can benefit as much as I have. Thanks to Marriott Grande Vista for hosting the clinics. Thanks for the instructors who take the time to come out and help veterans improve their game.
Ivan C. (Kissimmee, FL)
On Course came to my course for their training event and I was very impressed with their program for disabled veterans. I strongly recommend supporting this important cause.
I had the pleasure of playing with members of this Foundation at a training event for their Ryder Cup event. Great fun and a great Foundation that is making a big impact on the lives of these heroes. 10/10
Golf Therapy!!! This organization is amazing how they bring together Veterans from all over the states to learn how to play golf, better their game, make new friends, and even learn how to work in all aspects of a golf course. Cannot put into words how they change lives and how grateful I am to them for what they have done for my husband!
Hugely impressed with the On Course Foundation and the difference they have created in the lives of these heroes. Both humbling and inspiring – I would urge any golfer to get behind this great organization.
One of the most inspiring golf days I’ve been to. Amazing to see how golf can help these heroes. On Course Foundation is doing great work.
I would like to start my story of participation by extending my heart felt appreciation for everyone involved in the Qualifier at Kernwood Country Club! Special thanks to the staff and members of golf course! The pros were top notch and created a truly “professional feel” to the qualifier! Additionally the On-Course representatives were equally stellar! THANK YOU ALL!
Now, I am more than honored to have been invited to experience this fellowship of comrades. I struggle mightily with the mental anguish the toll of military conflict has had on all my being.
Physically golf has brought meaningful physical activity to my life. I have a personal motivation to go be active. I no longer feel as I have no means to remain active. Mental Stress Relief!
Mentally, returning to golf has changed my life. I have everything I need to stay, positively, mentally healthy! I am not sure the entire outcome of my future, but it will include the golf industry! It has given me a possible return to a socially productive life! I am not sure how long or if ever, but I now have a means to attempt a “Full Recovery!” I cannot tell you the positive life attitude it has created for me.
As for On-Course and my experience at Kernwood, It was life altering to say the least. I was able to go, WAAAAY, out of my comfort zone, and felt as safe as I have ever felt away from home! I suffer terrible anxiety and stress management. I never felt judged, not welcome, and totally accepted. (Even if embracing incidents happen)
The fellow veterans at this event were inspiring and truly motivating! I love the tight comradery of the guys fully committed to this program!! These guys are unbelievably positive and full of life! Hard not to feel free to laugh and have some refreshing locker room banter!
To end, I have been blessed to participate in this event. If you are reading this, it’s either you are a veteran or a potential donor!
Veterans: Not a better group to be involved with. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
Donors: Your money will be very well utilized to change the lives of many lost souls!
_Gerry, Shelton Washington
Great day to be alive, it is always a pleasure to listen and learn about golf opportunities. Tom Morrison (superintendent at Marriott Grande Vista) gave us some good insight about grounds keeping and how to enter the profession. Instruction was awesome, any day that I can come out and practice under the watchful eye of PGA professional Don Moyer I feel good. On Course Foundation I'm thankful for the invitation.
This day I can forget about my problems and just come out and have some fun with other veterans.
I have attended two On Course foundation 1 day clinics. The events where all first class from the coordination to the time we tee'd up the first ball. I enjoyed the information sharing of the program as much as I did the golf instruction and play. These events are extremely easy on the participant; which is key to those who struggle with being around people and getting out of the house. Mike Lacy has been extremely available and helpful during the process. I have increased my time outside the house working on my game in between events and I owe that all to the foundation. Thanks Dan McGuire
I have always enjoyed the game of golf. When I was injured in the military I thought those days of moving forward were over. It wasn't until joining up with On the Course Foundation USA, and all the help personally from John Dodds, was I able to find that true passion again. With their help, I now have a job at an amazing golf country club, where I'm able to immerse myself into the golf wold (in numerous areas). I'm able to learn more than I ever knew was possible, from some great people, and hopefully take my game to the next level. I couldn't be more appreciative for their help and guidance through the process of getting to this point. I now feel like my options in moving forward within the golf industry are limitless! Thank you, to everyone within On the Course Foundation. I will never forget, without them, I wouldn't be on this path I'm now on! https://www.instagram.com/tycampbell32/
This organization saved my life. If it wasn't for them getting me out of the house and on the course with my brothers and sisters in arms I would have ended my life a long time ago. Rehab thru golf and the On Course foundation provide an outlet for us to experience something other than four walls.
Having moved from the U.K last year the on course foundation USA have helped my transition into a new country. The staff involved are incredible and literally cannot do enough for you! This goes to the pros who give up their time and pass their experiences and knowledge onto us and the volunteers within the charity.
If your thinking of getting into golf and you are a veteran or already play then get in touch! Your connected with like minded people who have that connection regardless of what country they served. People of all experiences and abilities play together and one thing that is constant is the smile on the participants faces!
First and foremost I would like to thank On Course Foundation and all of its staff for the help and support it has given me over the last year.
Each event I have attended over the last year has been outstanding and to top it off with warm weather training in Orlando has been the icing on the cake.
The facilities, training, hospitality and welcome we all received in Orlando has been first class.
Not only have I had top quality coaching from top quality professionals, I have also enjoyed being amounst like minded buddies from both sides of the Atlantic whom I could connect with.
Civvy street can be a tough club to be a part of after 20 years in the military and having the chance to spend a week with guys from the same background and who have had similar experiences is priceless.
In a nutshell, my golf has improved massively and I have met new friends for life! In my whole 6 years of being injured and discharged from the Army, no other charity has come close to achieving what On Course Foundation has given me!
Another fantastic experience with OCF. It's nee quite a while since I have spent a continued amount of time with other injured soldiers although it didn't take long to get back into the swing of things.
Great staff, tuition, food, accommodation, Golf courses and banter. The evenings were social and enjoyable, super itinerary and I feel very fortunate to be part of such a charity.
It was amazing courses, great opportunity, best friends, delicious food and best time ever!!!
Thank you for giving me such a great opportunity.
BRENDAN MURRAY OCF MEMBER GBR
Firstly I have to thank every single person involved in putting together this great trip. The day I received the email I couldn't believe my luck, I had never been to the States and was looking forward in meeting more OCF members and playing some world class PGA Tour quality courses.
The trip was so awesome, I gained so much from it. I have an ongoing lower back Injury, which initially limited me considerably. Through The OnCourse Foundation I now focus more on the things I can do rather then what I cant.
I am fully making a recovery through golf, the charity really does what it says on the tin.
Golf has given me a sport I can almost fully compete in, develop and enjoy thoroughly.
The tuition we received from the Marriot Grande Vista staff was unbelievable.
Once in a life time coaching. Larry, Jim, Andy and Don all gave me so much time and catered to my limitations.
For anyone who isn't into golf, would think I'm talking rubbish, but I've found a new sense of confidence both in sport and socially.
Since being injured I have spend a lot time on my own at home, initially feeling quite down.
I now look forward to the OCF events, each time I make close friends which is so cool.
The Orlando trip took it to another level and we got to hang out with the Wounded Veterans from the U.S Forces aswell as our own Injured lads.
The banter was flowing and its realy uplifting to see people with horrific mental and physical injuries properly laugh and open up making new friendships.
I will keep this experience with me for the rest of my life.
Everyone involved worked tirelessly and questions or issues were addressed immediately. I really can not song their praises enough. Will Barker John Dodds and John Simpson, to name a few made this experience worthwhile meaningful and helped each of us individually so much.
Personally, I think my golf improved, a lot. My social skills improved and I managed to make new great friendships. The coaching didn't end in Orlando, I was filmed and set up on a Marriot coaching website, so when I got home I can go over the golf tution at my leisure.
The Charity is great and anyone who donates and supports it is making a real difference. Not all service men and woman have visable injuries and I was so surprised golf of all things would bring people together, helping them be involved whatever the Injury. Socially being able to open up while travelling round a golf course for 4-5hours.
The thing I've learnt is that golf is such a positive sport. I know I've got a long way to go before I can class myself as a medium skilled player, but all the guys never put you down, only encourage and guide you. And of course not forgetting that we are ex and serving military personnel, so the banter that so many of us miss upon leaving the service is fully flowing, and we can all take a joke.
Loved every minute of this trip and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. Learnt more about the golf industry, correct playing syles, professional coaching, Luxurious accommodation & superb dining.
Most of all was the friendships I made and how comfortable it is to speak to each other about our injuries.
Truly grateful, thank you to everyone
I don’t even know where to begin in terms of what I got out of the trip. Being in full time employment the R&R it provided was invaluable, just being around like minded individuals for a week was great and something I have always missed since being discharged from the military.
In terms of golf, the trip has done no end of good to my game, I have made some instant improvements and taken away loads for me to work on. The fitting with Randy was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am really looking forward to having my clubs set up based on his recommendations. The coaching was first class as usual and a great confidence boost with Simpson Cup qualifying just around the corner.
Getting to play the courses we played was something I never thought I would be able to do and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
It was great to hear some of the golf industry success stories and have an insight into some areas of the industry we would never get the opportunity to see. I feel if we could find somebody as enthusiastic as Randy is about club fitting in the UK and could try to expose more members to this environment we would have a queue of Apprentice club fitters looking for employment.
The only constructive feedback I could give relates to the intensity of the golf, as someone with a physical injury it was at times too intense, I feel it would have been more beneficial to have a little bit of rest time and although I know the activities were not essential it sometimes feels a little bit ungrateful or ignorant if you choose to sit something out. That said, on the flip side, what an itinerary, I am pleased I cracked on and managed to do most activities over the course of the week.
I have come back to the UK feeling refreshed, positive and confident and the benefits of the trip will be long lasting.
Thanks for all of your efforts and thanks to everyone at On Course involved in the organisation of an amazing trip and giving me the opportunity to attend.
A great organization. I attended a weeklong training session with OnCourse Foundation. The experience was awesome and they truly do open up opportunities to work within the golf industry.
Excellent staff and instruction. Providing a way for veterans and soldiers to be educated and receive much needed help and support for their future.
I now have a new Family to assist in my transition to civilian life after medical retirement from the Army. My attendance at OCF clinics has given me new tools to seek employment in the golf industry, a new attitude on my transition and most of all a new sense of camaraderie and esprit de corps that was missing when I left the service. There is an unspoken code we attendees of these clinics share that allows us to be ourselves without judgment. The staff and golf professionals at all the venues I have visited are extremely and sincerely appreciative of our and our families' service and sacrifice for this great nation. Special thanks to Mike L. of OCF, Don M. of the Marriott Grande Vista, Orlando and Ted R. of Deercroft, Pinehurst. They are all awesome guys and great Americans!
Thanks to all.
