Mission: The ogrcc - old greenwich-riverside community center promotes a sense of community by providing recreational, athletic, educational and social programs.
Programs: The old greenwich/riverside community center ("ogrcc") currently has over 1,400 member families that participate in activities ranging from recreational sports to poster painting and ages toddler through adults. Our programs include recreational soccer (avg. 665 fall / 525 spring participants), baseball (avg. 750 participants), rugby 140 participants per season, 8 travel baseball teams, 29 travel soccer teams. We also have available dance, yoga, tae kwon do, guitar, science; tennis for adults 18+ and children ages 3 through 13. Ogrcc also offers table tennis, field hockey, adult soccer and basketball clinics. We offer need based scholarships in all of our program offerings, in 2014 we had 58 families receiving scholarship assistance. All of these offerings allow us to further our mission of promoting a sense of community.
our before and after school childcare program offers on site supervised care to children kindergarten through 5th grade. Sites are located at old greenwich elementary school (ogs); international school at dundee (isd) and north mianus school (nms). Our program allows for drop-ins on an as needed basis, our pre registration for 2 to 5 days per week. At the ogs location we offer after care that begins at the end of the regular school day until 6:00pm. In 2014, the ogs location had 21 children registered, the isd location had 44 children registered and the nms location had 55 children registered. The locations also provide part-time employment for a number of teachers.
our sandpipers beach camp is licensed under the state of connecticut department of health services maintaining strict health and supervision guidelines. Counselors are assigned to campers offering arts & crafts, games, music, nature & exploring the beauty of tod's point. Other activities include swimming taught by an instructor certified in lifeguard training. Each camper receives a t-shirt and an enjoyable outdoor experience that will never be forgotten. The camp meets monday through thursday from 9:30 a. M. To 2:30 p. M. At tod's point. Fridays are used for make-up days. In 2014, each session we have about 125 campers ages 3 to 10. Sandpipers also provides employment for a number of counselors ranging from 16 year old high school students to high school teachers.
