I have been a part of this amazing organization from 2015 and have participated in several trips where we have efficiently and safely cared for numerous children in Mexico and South America. HCI has a high rate of volunteer retention resulting in more consistent team composition and practices. There is also a concerted effort to develop and teach protocols to local teams in order to make a lasting impact. HCI is well-organized and holds itself to the highest standards in the delivery of specialized cardiac care to vulnerable pediatric populations. Respect and dignity permeate this organization and extend readily towards patients, families and local teams. I encourage others to support this organization.
Now that the pandemic has abated, Heart Care has in 2022 fully resumed its lifesaving surgical missions for children for free in Mexico ( 2 missions), the Dominican Republic (2 missions) and Peru. Medical professionals in its missions now include those trained in other host countries as well as medical professionals from North America. It’s scholarships are providing perfusion training in Mexico. The teams work tirelessly and seamlessly to provide care to patients.
Heart Care International has a top notch care team that is saving lives while educating teams worldwide.
The team has the kindest most compassionate members I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They deserve more then five stars ⭐️
I was able to go on one trip pre-COVID as an advanced provider. Not only does the organization help with so many needed surgeries and interventions, it provides educational services for nurses, ancillary staff and providers. All is done in a safe environment and continues to provide. I can't wait to go on another trip with this amazing group!
The children and families served by Heart Care International are so profoundly grateful! HCI is a wonderful organization helping so many patients and medical professionals in developing countries.
A united force of altruistic individuals whose one common goal is to gather, share knowledge and apply resources to help in the treatment of congenital heart disease in children. Heart Care International has been instrumental in providing life saving procedures and equipment to the many different Pediatric heart Surgery programs stretching between Central America and South America since the 1990's. Thank you team HCI for being champions in a fight against Congenital Heart Disease.
I have traveled to many parts of the world, however the travels with HCI as a child life specialist is the most gratifying experience ever. I have witnessed a team of medical experts from different countries come together in a moment’s notice; join forces and pour their hearts to the mission at hand. The moment we enter a hospital the overwhelming feeling of spreading love and saving a child’s life takes over you; we work against all odds to save a child’s life and offer comfort to the families trusting Heartcare International with their beautiful children.
Heart Care International has changed the lives of so many children with congenital heart disease. This incredibly caring group of volunteer nurses, physicians, advanced practitioners, technologists (and more!) gives kids with CHD the chance to live long, healthy, happy lives!
I have been on the Heart Care International(HCI) board of directors since it's founding in 1995. I have personally gone on one our missions to the Dominican Republic witnessing first hand the incredible professional, passionate and caring life saving surgeries on infants who otherwise would not survive. Not only has HCI saved more than one thousand at risk infants but we take up to 5 years to return quarterly to train the local medical teams to perform these complex surgeries!

A true service-oriented organization. Brings together people from all parts of the United States and funds medical missions to developing nations. Not only does this organization bring advanced care to those desperate for help, it presents a positive face of the US to other parts of the world.
This is the most incredible organization run by true heroes. Many of my friends complain that when they donate money to certain organizations, they do not know where their money goes. If you donate to Heart Care International, you know that your money goes directly to saving a child's life. I couldn't recommend an organization more; they are truly saving children's lives through heart surgeries and helping to teach local professionals so that they can build up their own medical programs. The world needs more organizations like Heart Care International.
This is a wonderful organization. The brilliant mission statement and special, generous, talented and loving HCI is inspiring and moving. I have watched this organization grow over the past 20 years and am so moved by the work the HCI team does. So many children have benefitted from their hard work and compassion.
It has been an honor to work as a volunteer for the past 5 years for Heart Care International. To be able to save the lives of children and to help build a local cardiac surgery program is beyond anything I ever saw myself doing as a medical professional and now I can’t see myself doing anything but this. The dedication and commitment of the other volunteers is truly something to be admired and I’m beyond grateful to be a part of this team.
Being a volunteer has been the most incredible experience. Being part of heart care has showed me that helping children is the most beautiful thing that I have ever done!! I’m a cath doctor and I have had the opportunity of heal so many Little hearts from all around the world thank to HCI. I feel really proud of being part of this amazing experience... being part of heart care international.
This organization is made up of 100% medical volunteers, developing pediatric heart care centers in developing countries through surgical trips and on-going year-round education. Cannot say enough about the people who give their time and talents to serving others.
What an incredible organization! As soon as I heard of their mission and incredible accomplishments in third-world countries, I knew I had to help out. Their team has helped me raise awareness of their cause in my community, leading to funds going towards their trips. I look forward to my continued involvement with this organization in the future!
This organization truly saves lives of many young children. Their medical volunteers share their skills and experience with the medical team in the host country. This helps develop medical expertise around the world.
20 year old organization has been doing God's work in helping so many children in Third World Countries. The physicians and nurses and other technicians volunteer their time to help others.
Heart Care Int is a great non-profit organization! They have saved so many lives and changed the dim outlook that many 2nd world countries have.
HCI just launched their first surgical mission in Chiapas, Mexico and saved 15 children. They also trained host country doctors and nurses. Congrats to everyone involved, it's great to see my donation being used directly for the children its meant to support.
Incredible that children born in the US have access to these life saving heart procedures, but kids from under-developed countries do not. Thank you HCI for saving those children that would otherwise perish. And kudos to you 100% volunteer medical team for donating their personal vacation time and professional expertise to travel on these missions!
I have been volunteering with a Heart Care International for the past 8 years. Heart Care International has been helping heal children's hearts around the world. They are an amazing organization and I am proud to be a member.
For two decades, Heart Care International (HCI) has been providing life saving heart procedures to children in under-developed countries at NO COST to the child. Without these services, these children would perish due to lack of medical expertise, supplies and medicines in their home country. The 100% volunteer team and donated services means that HCI is able to put virtually 100% of donor dollars to work right in the host-country. Incredible organization and incredible results!
I am very proud to be part of this wonderful organization. So very many talented and dedicated volunteers!
Heart defects are the most common form of childhood birth defect. In the US, all of these children will receive the most comprehensive medical care to rectify their potentially life threatening defect. In under-developed countries, these children will not. HCI sends expert medical professionals into the host country to help save the lives of these children, but they also train the host country medical professionals so that they can eventually care for their own. With over 2000 children served and hundreds of medical professionals trained, the results speak for themselves. And the fact that the medical professionals are NOT paid. They take vacation time away from their usual place of work, away from their loved ones and dedicate their time to saving children's lives. A truly amazing organization and one which I am proud to support!
