OK Save a Dog is one of the best rescues in the state. They don't just try to move dogs out to homes, they work with the prospective families to find the best fit between dogs and people. They work tirelessly, night and day....without a break, taking money from their own pockets to feed and provide medical care for these orphan animals. You can do no better than to support this great group. I've adopted thru them as well as supported them with financial help.
I came all the way from South Florida to adopt my Lili aka: mama from Ok Save A Dog. They are real people doing a lot of good for so many hurting dogs etc..
I adopted a young lab mix 18months ago from ok save a dog. They are the real deal. Keeping the dog's best interest first. I came all the way from
South Florida to get her. It's the best thing I ever did. Thank you to the team that works so hard to keep these dogs safe. Ok Save A Dog, your good people..
I have 3 Ok Save A Dog adoptions, they are wonderful to work with and have the GREATEST Dogs. All 3 were well veted, fixed, and ready for life.
I have 3 dogs from OK Save a Dog, they are wonderful caring people that work to make sure that the dog fits the person. I love working with them and will adopt again in the future.
Thank You so much for taking the time to help us out.
I called looking for a small dog and they had a litter of Chihuahuas and when I drove from Tulsa to OKC they had one left. They knew I was coming and saved him for me. I love my dog.
This organization tirelessly helps dogs in need. They make sure the dogs go to good homes, they work day & night, and many times are sorely underfunded. Some of the nicest people! I will adopt from them again when mine cross the rainbow bridge. This group is very deserving of receiving accolades as a great non-profit!
My husband and I knew we wanted to adopt a dog after getting married. What we didn't know is that we would fall absolutely in love with not one, but TWO dogs at OK Save A Dog! We stopped by one of their adoption events after lunch and saw two precious brothers napping together. They were well taken care of, sweet boys, and we knew we couldn't separate them. Billy and Bob turned into Mumford and Rockwell! Three years later, and our boys are like children to us! They are gentle and cuddly, and love a good belly rub! If it wasn't for OK Save A Dog, we would never have found our sweet littles pups! We still take our boys by their local adoption events to say hello and tell them how much we truly appreciate their work! Thank you, OK Save A Dog!
I adopted a little Bichon named Izzy about 5 years ago. She was a love from the beginning. Very well behaved. She was fully vetted and was the perfect fit in my home. She is the Queen in my house. I would adopt again in a heartbeat.
This is a love story between an abused 5 year old female German Shepherd and an entire family that adopted her! My 82 year old mother lost her companion dog to cancer, still lived at home, was still physically able and fit, had raised GS for 30+ years and had a GS most of her life and was lost after CK died. I saw Dixie on the OK Save A Dog website and had been watching her for about a month or so. I got sick at my stomach every time they had an adoption event worried that someone would take Dixie. If they took her I would never see her or have an opportunity to adopt her. When CK passed away I showed mom pics of Dixie again, she was worried they wouldn’t consider her due to her age.
I wrote to them, explained my mom’s situation, that she had years of experience with GS and that I felt with Dixie’s timidity, mom would be perfect for her and Dixie would be perfect for mom. I told them about mom’s place, her pens, fenced backyard, that Dixie would be indoors with mom, that we go to mom’s if not every day every other day. They agreed to see them together and see how mom handled Dixie.
Prague Oklahoma seemed like Prague Russia in distance to mother, we just couldn’t get there quick enough for her. They couldn’t bring Dixie out quick enough, she couldn’t get her hands on her quick enough, sign paperwork and load her. Mom had fallen in love at first glimpse of Ms Dixie, she also fell for a gorgeous solid black GS they had on sight at the time they called Django. She wanted both and Django had a squeak toy he was using to get our attention. He was a beautiful boy. But Dixie and Django apparently didn’t like each other.
The only concern was mom’s age and what would happen if something happened to mom? I signed all the adoption paperwork with mom, in case anything happened to mom, I would take Dixie. I would have adopted Dixie myself but I had an 8 year old male GS myself and Dixie apparently didn’t like males.
Sadly my mother had to move into assisted living, I lost my 8 year old GS to an autoimmune issue all in a matter of a month. Dixie moved home with me, fell in love with my son and has begun her new life with my family. She is very timid, but each day try’s something new. She is the sweetest gentlest dog I have ever been around and I cannot believe that someone could have done to her what was done!
I thank God every day that she wound up with OK Save A Dog And is recovering. I also cannot ever express enough gratitude to them for allowing my mother one last German Shepherd and trusting her to love and care for her. Ms Dixie and my mom were quiet the pair and mother was very content and comfortable. Much heartfelt appreciation to a wonderful rescue, who not only cares for the animals but looks after the people adopting to make sure they make 4ever matches!
The first pic shows Miss Dixie hiding in her hidey hole, she hates storms. The camo beanbag in the background is her fav sleeping spot if she is in the hidey hole (interior storage room) for very long. The second pic is her at mom’s, my drandson and mom are brushing her, she loved that, both mom and Dixie.
I adopted my pup Walker from OK Save a Dog 4.5 years ago. They are an incredible organization that truly cares for their animals and their long term wellbeing.
All of my pets have come from OKSaveaDog! They have an uncanny ability to pair the perfect pet in your family!
10/10 would reccomend
We have adopted 3 dogs from OKSAD. They take the best care of their dogs and really get to know their personalities so they can make the best matches. The dogs are socialized and friendly, they don't crate their dogs but let them run and play. You can find all breeds and ages at OKSAD, they don't discriminate but save as many dogs as they can. We will always adopt from OKSAD.
The 2 woman that run this rescue are amazing, caring women! They go above and beyond to help the fur babies. Never turn a baby away and always do what's best for them! Definitely would recommend adopting from them!
We adopted our Lexi 10 years ago. In these past 10 years I have pointed people in the direction of this wonderful organization and have never heard a bad word about them. The property they keep is immaculate and all who pass through are well cared for and loved.
We adopted our princess from OK Save A Dog 12 years ago and couldn't be happier that Kim and team were able to rescue her so we could apply and adopt. Consistently have the best interest of the animal above all!
OK Save A Dog brought my bouncy ball of energy, Londynne into my life. Finding a rescue that really cares about their dogs and practices thoughtfulness when it comes to selecting their furever homes made me a fast fan of OK Save A Dog! When it is time for my next new family member, I will not hesitate to pick them from the caring hands of this rescue!
Loving kind compassionate I rescue too with a different group and have been at big events with these folks
I have two wonderful rescue pups from OK Save A Dog. Fantastic! I recommend them to anyone who asks me.
We are so happy we found our fur baby through OK Save a Dog! They were so quick to respond to my questions and emails and so friendly when we met in person. They truly love what they do and take the best of care of all the pups.
This rescue does SO much with SO little! A small operation but its heart is solid gold. My sister, my nephew, one of my best friends, and my husband and I have all adopted dogs from OKSAD. We are now regular donors. We wish we could do more, but help out with extra as needed. Mike and I will eventually be adopting another dog, and we will trust OKSAD to help us find the perfect match! This is our little Buddy, courtesy of OKSAD!
OMG, where to start . . . I found my latest pup at OK Save a Dog. I am so thankful that my application was accepted and I got to adopt Buddy (formerly Toby). This rescue does so much with so little--only two people working to save as many dogs and puppies as possible. I know their resources are stretched at times. They vet their dogs, as well as their applicants, which is so encouraging to me. I know that when they send a dog to a home, that home has been fully investigated. Great people, great dogs, great organization! My whole family has adopted dogs from OKSAD and I will soon be looking for another one from them!
We adopted our sweet Gus(Leo) from Save a Dog. He is honestly the sweetest dog and is so smart. He was so well taken care of and since he came to them with his mom as a very young puppy it is very evident the work they put into the puppies and dogs they get. He was well socialized and very confident which is not the case for a lot of puppies who have to grow up in a rescue environment. Also the rescue event we attended was awesome...you can tell the difference between them and other rescues and shelters the moment you walk up...the dogs are all calm and content to be in their crates. There was little to no barking. Anyone who has ever attended any adoption event understands what I mean. We love our Save A Dog pup!!
