Mission: To increase energy knowledge and leadership skills through energy education materials and leadership training workshops.
Programs: Student programs: throughout the school year, oep offered 21 youth leadership summits, which trained 820 high school students in leadership, presentation, and teamwork skills. These students led 27 energy workshops and energy fairs, which offer a variety of hands-on activities regarding the sources and transformations of energy, energy efficiency, heat, light, and sound. 130 teachers participated along with 2,750 students.
teacher programs: during the summer, teachers participate in various professional development opportunities aligned to ohio's learning standards. Oep offered 54 professional development workshops to 723 educators from 453 schools, impacting 31,400 students. These opportunities include: energy sources tour and blitz educators explore behind-the-scenes at energy sites, learning directly from energy industry professionals to deepen their understanding of all things energy grade level programs educators participate in hands-on activities and receive resources ready to use in the classroom
energy efficiency programs: throughout the school year, students and educators explore the importance of energy efficiency. Teachers receive award-winning curriculum, classroom materials, and training so that they can successfully prepare their students to become energy leaders at home, at school, and in their wider community. Students receive an energy efficiency kit to teach their families how to be wise energy consumers at home. 575 educators participated, impacting 42,779 students and their families.
