I have been going to TLC workshops for several years. Every workshop has been engaging and full of authentic and practical support for all school staff. The amount of learning I have achieved during each workshop is more than I can ever ask for. Although I leave each session exhausted due to the high level of engagement and thinking, I am thrilled with the new strategies, lesson ideas, and coaching on how to pass this learning on to others. I know when I enter a TLC workshop that anytime spent will be well worth the time lost with my students, family, and staff.
I have attended MANY TLC learning events over the year and every single one is SO valuable! They create amazing collaboration opportunities and ALL events are highly thoughtful and engaging!
TLC has been instrumental in changing teacher practice in our district. They provide innovative professional development that our teachers always look forward to.

The best professional development experiences that I've been a part of, by far! I have had the opportunity to participate in both math and science PD with Teaching & Learning Collaborative, and each experience has been phenomenal. I would highly recommend any professional development from TLC, as my experiences with them have undoubtedly made me a better educator!
Teaching and Learning Collaborative is uniquely poised to provide consistent, high quality professional learning for Ohio teachers that no other provider has been able to match. They continue to create and deliver cutting edge programs that benefit teachers, students, families and communities. Excellence is their normal! I cannot imagine the Ohio classroom without the imprint of the many programs that TLC delivers! What a gem!
TLC provides top notch professional development in the areas of Math and Science! The standards-based workshops allow time for sharing and collaboration with colleagues. Amazing materials are provided...books and online resources. Well worth your time , get on their mailing list!
The Teaching and Learning Collaborative is a wonderful nonprofit that "walks the talk". Or in my case, run the talk. Not only do they help educators with professional development, but they give back to the community, as well. I am one of the beneficiaries of their charitable give-back. When I was unable to register for the Star Wars 10K race hosted by Disney World, TLC gave me the opportunity to participate in the foot race by purchasing registration through their organization. This made the race more meaningful to me because not only did I get to fulfill my passion for running, and donate to the Disney World charity, but I was able to give monetary assistance to an organization I respect so much, the Teaching and Learning Collaborative. It was a win-win-win for everyone involved. And not only from the standpoint of a runner. By supporting their honorable cause of education, TLC makes it a win-win-win for teachers, students, and their surrounding communities every day. Therefore I recommend the Teaching & Learning Collaborative as one of our country's greatest nonprofits and I look forward to partnering with them again for the 2018 race season.
The most amazing, and friendliest people are with this group! Very helpful and quick to answer all and every questions asked
The TLC is an awesome group of educators who are committed to helping other educators learn and grow in a fun, engaging way! You always leave one of their PD sessions with ready to use activities and ideas. One of the best organizations out there providing PD to teachers!

The Teaching & Learning Collaborative is by far one of the best providers of professional development for math and science teachers in Ohio and beyond. Their consideration of the teachers' PD experience is always front and center. Participants in their PD programs return over and over--a testament to the quality work they do. I have had the good fortune of work with TLC for over 15 years on long and short term projects. They are brilliant, dedicated, and thoughtful. Rock stars in PD!
Who goes to Disney as a family for the first time AND runs a 5K? The Remick Family does! Why you ask? Because we were helping to sponsor and give back to an organization who has given so much to us! Over the last several years, I have taken numerous workshops through the Teaching and Learning Collaborative in the areas of math and science. I have used this professional development in my classroom and have passed this excitement and love of these subjects on to my students. My own children have been students in classrooms with teachers who have taken the same, or other programs, and did the same. The facilitators are professional, creative, and enthusiastic educators who love what they do. Thank you Teaching and Learning Collaborative!
This inspirational group of educators dive deep into the content and core standards with such a creative approach that teachers and students of all ages are engaged in learning! I've taken several courses through them and all have been worthwhile learning experiences that I can take back into the classroom.
I have been working with the Teaching and Learning Collaborative for 3 years. I have enhanced the way I teach Science in my classroom. I feel more confident and knowledgeable about Science. TLC continues to showcase their talents in professional development programs in mathematics and science. Their focus on developing content knowledge and research based instructional practices has helped teachers from PreK-12!
Teaching and Learning Collaborative was ALWAYS my go to place when I needed high quality PD for my staffs. As a principal I knew they would tailor the PD to meet our specific building goals.
Teaching and Learning Collaborative provides so many outstanding professional development opportunities for teachers all across Ohio. One of these opportunities is NFTI- using non-fiction text through inquiry in all Science content areas. This is a great PD that shifts the paradigm from telling students what they should know to allowing them to discover it (and more) through the 5E learning cycle. As a NFTI facilitator, I'm proud to share this paradigm shift with other educators. I see them implement it in the classroom where the impact is huge!
The Teaching and Learning Collaborative has provided incredible support for teachers in the Colimbus Ohio area. This resource is critical for elementary educators who traditionally are not as confident and competent in the areas of math and science. Professional development sessions, resource availability and enthusiastic leaders made my job easier and made me a stronger teacher.
Innovative, cutting edge, yet practical professional development is what you get with TLC. Their programs help teachers build content knowledge while implementing research based pedagogy. Once participants experience professional development with TLC, many come back for more! In addition, the folks at TLC genuinely care about the participants and helping each one develop their craft of teaching.
The Teaching & Learning Collaborative has made exceptional professional development available to teachers for years. They understand the needs of teachers and develop professional development that is practical and realistic to meets the needs of a variety of learners. My students have been postively impacted by NFTI and Science Works. This is just two of the valuable pd's that I have attended ( there are any more). The Teaching & Learning Collaborative is what a non-profit should be about - amazing, maginificent and invaluable in it's contribution to education!!!
The NFTI program continues to prove to be fantastic integration with informational text and science!!!
Amazing, talented staff who provide high-quality, meaningful professional development. They are making real change in STEM teaching and learning in Central Ohio.
This is one of the best PD groups around! They model lessons, strategies and pedagogy that is immediately applicable in the classroom. TLC staff are creative, passionate and committed to helping improve teaching and learning, plus all their sessions are fun! As an elementary administrator, I wouldn't hesitate to send my staff to any PD sessions with the TLC organization.
TLC is an amazing organization that offers great professional development opportunities. Kelly, Renee, and Anita are well organized, efficient, and knowledgeable. They understand the time constraints and challenges of teachers and offers practical, beneficial and meaningful PD. After a TLC PD session, I always feel energized and can't wait to get back to my classroom and share what I have learned with my students!
Amazing group of leaders! This group is and will continue to empower educators around the state. What they are doing is truly inspiring!
Great PD and very useful for our classrooms! We have. Even given many resources and are learning new things. Even veteran teachers have benefitted.
An incredibly dedicated team and organization. My organization partners with TLC frequently, and their work is impeccable and their passion incredibly apparent to all!
With the Teaching & Learning Collaborative, I have attended, by far, the best professional development of my teaching career. The consultants continue to keep in touch and answer questions even when you're not in their office. Their dedication for helping educators and students is evident in their words and actions. I've become a better teacher from working with them.
A practical approach to teaching. Every class I've taken with T & L has helped me be a better teacher. They focus on content and address the over arching goals that parallel our standards I've shared lessons with colleagues and they too find it invaluable.
Throughout the last 5 years I have attended several professional development opportunities offered by the Teaching and Learning Collaborative. All of them have provided beneficial and relevant experiences that have improved my understanding of current best practices in education. The staff is made up of passionate and dedicated educators who make these experiences very engaging and worthwhile. I utilize this valuable training, on a daily basis, in my role as a K-6 Instructional Coach.
I have taken workshops with the group. All that they provide is current, research-based PD. The facilitators are outstanding getting us to stretch our thinking and learning. Math PD is what I typically attend. There is very little PD in elementary ed that is centered around Common Core, so their IMPACT workshops, Pre-K Counts, K-5 Structures are amazing and timely!

I have worked with TLC since 2005. I have helped them with mathematics education by serving on advisory boards and rewrite committees. If you are looking for the most current information on mathematics and science education, this is the place to get your training! They use the most current research to create workshops. The focus is always on building teacher's content knowledge. Absolutely the best group to get your latest and greatest on Ohio's New Learning Standards!
Personally, NFTI has been a catalyst in allowing me the opportunity to become a science facilitator. It is a role I never considered for myself but I have discovered I enjoy it very much.
The Teaching and Learning Collaborative has provided professional development to the teachers in my district for over three years now. Their focus on providing high quality professional development in mathematics and the sciences sets them apart from other resources that we have access to in our area. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and receptive to feedback. Every time one of our teachers attends their professional development they leave appreciative of the time they spent and motivated to apply the new learning in their classroom. The Teaching and Learning Collaborative have also provided a wonderful venue for collaboration between our district and others in the region. Our district will continue to use the Teaching and Learning Collaborative in a variety of capacities for many years to come!
The professional developments they run have good ideas, but the facilitators are very rude. They don't value your time (hours of work outside of PD to collect data for their company, not student data). The facilitators do not like when you question their thinking. If you question they will tell you "you have a fixed mindset" when really all you need is clarification. If you ask "how can I do this in my room?" Their response is "Well I could do it in my classroom so you're not trying". Seriously, most unprofessional teachers who belittle you and your knowledge.

I just saw your post today and wanted to reach out. I'd love to talk in more detail about your concerns. We strive for high-quality PD sessions and I definitely want to address your experience. Please feel to call so that we can talk in more detail. ~Kelli
The staff at TLC has been great! They are very supportive and have taught me how to be a great facilitator. They are always prompt in responding to questions and/or problems. I have not only enjoyed working with them, but have become a much better math facilitator as a result of all of their hard work!
A big shout out to all the people at TLC that work so hard to bring us some really incredible professional development. The material is cutting-edge and participated are eager to learn about it and make changes happen. TLC professional development has brought about a change in pedagogy and utilization of materials. My thinking will forever be changed and challenged as a result of this opportunity. Thank you.
I have worked with this organization for over 15 years and through two different directors. It has maintained high quality services and high quality people throughout the time I have known the organization. Though located in Columbus, OH, they continue to support our rural county on the far west edge of the state. They communicate well, share resources, and create outstanding professional development/training. I know the staff personally and would recommend their services to anyone.
Seven years ago I attended my first TLC professional development learning opportunity, which forever changed my instructional practices in the classroom and who I am as an educator. Since then I have attended every professional learning opportunity they have provided. At each session my knowledge of math/science content and instruction continue to grow! The math and science professional development offered by TLC is high quality, innovative, and rigorous. Professional development through the Teaching & Learning Collaborative provides teachers with numerous resources, activities, ideas, and collaboration opportunities to support learning and new ideas. TLC fosters professional development that is relevant to current educational initiatives and research. The Teaching & Learning Collaborative, definitely knows how to “hook” teachers in making instructional shifts to best meet the needs of students! Once you go to one PD….you will go to all! ☺
After being introduced to TLC and working with them as part of a collaborative project, I am impressed with the level of expertise and excitement in providing quality professional development for educators. I have thoroughly enjoyed developing our current PD as well as our stimulating conversations on STEM and literacy education. And I can not leave out all the laughter and FUN we had doing it! I hope to continue my relationship with TLC and look forward to working together in the future. This group is STELLAR!
Over the years, TLC has consistently provided high-quality professional development in mathematics and science. Their workshops engage teachers to deepen both content and pedagogical knowledge. Teachers leave prepared to apply this knowledge in the classroom to benefit their students. TLC has had a tremendous impact on my professional career and I appreciate all I have learned - and continue to learn - from them!
It was my great fortune to be introduced to the Teaching & Learning Collaborative under its previous umbrella of the Science & Math Network. Their professional development programs are simply the best to be found. Based on research and what is best teaching practice, you can be continually amazed at the high quality, active engagement and life changing experiences provided to teachers.
Love TLC! Their professional development sessions always provide teachers with new ways to help children learn. The enthusiasm they show for what they do is contagious. We are better teachers because of TLC!!!!! Keep up the great work.

I've been teaching for almost 20 years. In all that time, I have never had a better professional learning experience than the sessions offered by TLC! They bring current research, strategies, and powerful ways to engage students in mathematics and science!
TLC continues to provide high quality professional development for elementary teachers. The TLC programs have been developed by teachers and have [proven to be effective material for classroom use by the teachers.

TLC has improved the math and science that is available to elementary students over the past several years. The short courses and educational materials that the staff have developed have given elementary teachers and administrators a better understand of math and science and some tools and skills to effectively teach math and science. The benefits received from the TLC programs have exceeded the expectations I had when we started TLC several years ago.
When it comes to providing professional development for teachers in the areas of science and mathematics, The Teaching and Learning Collaborative is one of the most innovative and effective organizations I know.
The Teaching & Learning Collaborative is an incredible organization. They understand what educators need and they provide lessons and ideas that can be used immediately to impact student achievement. As a former instructional coach I walked away from every professional development offered with a deeper understanding of the content and the ability to go back into the classrooms and support teachers with rolling out the common core and other best practices in mathematics. Now as a principal I am so excited to support my teachers in attending courses provided by TLC. With limited funding and teachers with jam packed schedules it is crucial to me that professional development be high impact to the teachers that attend, their colleagues and students. With TLC I know it is going to be worthwhile every time. That piece of mind is so valuable. Not only does TLC create and implement high quality professional learning opportunities they also offer them on evenings and weekends which allows for a wider range of educators to participate. The TLC ignites a passion and renewed energy for learning and growing as a professional. The collaboration extends well beyond the four walls of the professional development and the TLC is creating a cohort of motivated mathematics educators in Ohio.
The Teaching Learning Center helps in their work to provide districts, schools, and teachers with opportunity, information, and skills by providing support, and professional development for teachers throughout Ohio.
I have personally been involved with the Teaching Learning Center for the past four years. I have found the staff very well trained, personable, and willing to provide support for teacher in math and science. They have provided on site professional development for our math teachers (K-5). They are very well prepared, and very well received by our teachers. We appreciate their support and find them to be a valuable asset to our district.
Science Works (organized by TLC) was one of the most rewarding PDs I have taken in my entire career. It was hands-on, real teacher work that you could take right back to the classroom. I rave about this opportunity to everyone I meet (especially since good science related PD is hard to find), and have had many sign up to come back and confirm how fabulous it was!
We have given the early childhood workshop for the past several summers in Texarkana, Texas. The teachers love the materials and enjoy using them in their classrooms.
I was part of a science summer program, INQUIRE, offered through the Teaching and Learning Collaborative a couple of summers ago. This group has the most up-to-date teaching practices with more hands-on science ideas than a teacher could possibly use. The teachers walked away with field trip ideas for their school yard, knowledge about Ohio mussels and formative assessments with many writing connections. Kelli Shrewsberry, as director, is a full-fledged scientist that shares the love of teaching kids and teachers. A worthy nonprofit organization!

TLC offers courses utilizing professors, current teachers and the most up-to-date research to develop lessons. Every topic covered was fun and full of lessons ready to carry into classrooms the next day for busy elementary teachers. I participated as a facilitator with 30+ years in the classroom. I spent much time learning new information and being so excited at the lesson possibilities. I would not hesitate to take one of their workshops or courses and know the activities they sell to be of top quality.
If you are looking for great professional development for teachers of elementary school-age children, TLC is the place to go. In mathematics, a good foundation is everything. TLC's PD sessions help teacher put the emphasis on the learning not the teaching. Their sessions show teachers how to get kids talking about mathematics and thinking about their own ways to solve problems.
