My daughter did not have the muscle strength to climb up onto the couch at age 4. Her neurologist at the MINDS Institute suggested to take her to OATS because his other patients were already receiving therapy there. I hesitated because she was already in therapy at the hospital and in school. That summer when she joined the Michigan Miracle League, we found out her coach drove his son all the way from Warren, MI to OATS, and other members praised the therapy and instructors. At 5, she started horseback riding therapy at OATS, after 6 months, she could pull her self up onto the couch and even the soft play scapes for the children at the malls...The neurologist explained it to me this way...the muscles and movements of the horse talk to nerves in the body of the child and they in turn signal and travel to the brain even without the rider knowing. I just know that I was in tears the first time my kid climbed up onto the couch and played with other children at the playground. After a couple years, she was able to tell me, that her legs wouldn't do what she told them to do. And ...she loves how ....she feels like she is running as fast as the other children can when laying in bed at night remembering the feeling of riding....happy tears....She still rides at OATS in Clarkston, MI

In the past O.A.T.S was a wonderful organization. Since the owner's passing, the new administration is terrible. It's so sad! I would not recommend taking your child to O.A.T.S.
