Mission: The oakland museum women's board is a california non-profit, public benefit corporation whose sole purpose is to provide services and funds to the oakland museum of california.
Programs: The oakland museum women's board gives grants to the oakland museum of california to support education programs, fund exhibits, purchase items for the collection, conserve collection material, and support capital improvements and community outreach. The grants are funded by money raised at the oakland museum women's board's (omwb) annual white elephant sale. Throughout the year, donated merchandise is sorted and arranged for sale in our 96,000 square foot warehouse. The dedicated work by nearly 1,000 volunteers is managed by the omwb, which also handles the logistics of marketing, purchasing supplies, cashiering, coordinating with city services, arranging parking, handling insurance, human resources, security, building maintenance, community relations, etc.
